food or water ? the longest I ever went as when I get to sleep a full 8 hours , and even then I am dreaming about burgers and shakes

I can't recall not going without water. I think I went without solid food one day when I had a stomach bug a couple years ago.

only prior, during and following surgery....

otherwise...I love food :)

Oh yeah....at the first of the yr with a bad stomach bug....I didn't have anything for probably 2 of the 3 days

Yup, every year on Yom Kippur. No food, no water, which means you're not supposed to brush your teeth. And you're also not supposed to flush the toilet, but we do it anyway. I've also gone about 15 hours recently when I needed surgery, or had to have a GI series, or a CT with contrast.

I agree, but I do not forfeit water on this holiday-I just go on a food fast.

The longest without water, 12 hours, prior to surgery.

Food, 3 days

When I was sick, I survived on IVproteins and drinks. At least 2 weeks.

Food and water? Yes.. Coffee? Never - unless I'm scheduled for a medical procedure that prohibits it..

I went one day without food or water. Sore throat. If I get a soar throat, I can NOT eat, I can barely drink. The pain is excrutiating, and I don't get hungry anyways. Thirsty, yes, hungry no. The most I've went JUST drinking? Probably about 5 days. I had strep throat for six days, the first day I couldn't have anything touching my throat. The next five, I could deal with liquids.

Yup, I've fasted before.

I also had a terrible stomach bug two years ago where I couldn't even keep water down and had nothing to eat or drink for almost 48 hours. It was awful and I ended up very sick and dehydrated. I could take a sip of water and throw it up again 10 minutes later. Blegh.

I flew to Israel awhile back and I have this little fear of airplane bathrooms. :upsidedow Our flight left NY at midnight, I had nothing to eat or drink all day leading up to the flight.

On the way back after dealing with some VERY different situations then I would normally face here, that airplane bathroom no longer seemed all that scary to me.

Kind of. I used to get very bad mouth sores from chemotherapy, so I wouldn't eat or drink because it hurt. BUT, I was on IV fluids 24/7 so that kind of cancels the food and drink out.

No water for Yom Kippur?

That is harsh. As a Catholic I fast for Ash Weds and Good Friday, but we're allowed all the water we want.

Nope..no food or water.

Yes...I have fasted on Yom Kippur.

Right - I forgot about that! I fast too on Yom Kippur. It's really not that hard. It's worth it to miss school, IMO.
