Have You Ever "UPGRADED" Your I-Pod?

My daughters both have Ipod (Nanos) I believe. They are a few years old. I saw a really cool one (I-Pod Touch) at the store today. Since I don't own one of these things, I don't know much about them. Is it worth upgrading to a newer model every few years? Are there different features available on the TOUCH?
I am looking to start X-mas shopping soon, so I was hoping to get some advice on this.

The iPod Touch has way more going for it than an iPod nano that is a few years old. An iPod Touch can connect to your wireless internet. It's pretty much an iPhone without the phone.

Is there a monthly service fee to have wireless connection?

No. It connects to your wireless connection at home, just like your computer does. It will also connect to wifi connections out in the world like at Starbucks, Panera Bread, etc.

It also has a much larger display and, assuming the nanos are a couple of years old, greater storage capacity, both of which come in handy when using the Touch to watch movies, TV, music videos, etc. :)

Ten to one you won't find any iPod models "on sale," per se (you might see someone advertise them for a few bucks off here and there, but not more than that), but a lot of places are offering different throw-in items with the purchase of any iPod Touch, like various denominations of gift cards. If you find a good deal on one, you could add the gift card into the present to let your daughters use on cases for their new iPods.
