I ordered some things from the basin shop online after falling in love with their shop in DTD. I have ordered stuff from them a few times. I ordered a few bath bombs and soaps for my son as a treat for being potty trained. Well one of the bath bombs was cracked in half and one of the soaps (froggy) had his face fall off. I sent them an email and asked them to replace the items. Do you think that was a bit much? I cant really send back a bar of soap that fell apart after it hit the water. And the bath bomb would cost more to ship back than what it is worth, but it did make me mad. What would you have done sucked it up or asked for a replacement or a refund. I just asked they be replaced not a refund. I wonder if I will have any luck.

**Just to let you know BASIN called me today and are sending out new items!!! They are great to deal with!! check them out in DTD if you have not been yet they have mickey head bath bombs and very cool all natural soap**

I've found that most places are happy to replace items. It is just good customer service. I ordered a set of dishes once and a mug was broken. The company sent me a new mug.

As Bob would say, "they can't hit you!" You might not get anything, but if nothing else it'll be interesting to see how they respond. I once wrote GE after I bought an expensive light bulb and it broke when I took it out of the package. It was clearly my fault, but I wrote 'em and explained that I thought the packaging wasn't marked very well and probably a lot of people had the same problem I did. They probably could have written back and agreed with me that there were a lot of stupid people out there just like me, but they sent me a nice note and a new light bulb. I was startled, and I've always tried to buy their stuff since then.

We had the same thing when we were fixing the toilet in the bathroom. We needed a part, so we called up the people who make them and ask for a new part (its one of these complicated 2 button dealies). They asked if we still had it on guarentee, they had a 3 year on all their stuff. We said that we probablly ordered it 3 years ago, but we can't remember. We told them the toilet we had and they said, yep its probably about 3 years, so we will send you the part for free! :goodvibes

It arrived the next day, with easy fitting instructions and it got done that afternoon!

I love it when companies get it right :) When we re-do the other bathroom, we will use them again!

I ordered a black wrought iron Mickey head mirror and as soon as the delivery person set it on our porch I could hear the glass moving around. I called them and told them about the broken mirror and how I would salvage what little packaging material there was to try to repack it and send it back. They told me me they would just send me out a new one and I could keep that frame. The next one arrived stamped with 'Fragile' all over it and a little more cushioning inside the box.

Good luck getting your items replaced.

Years ago my friend sent us Waterford crystal Cinderella champagne flutes which were shipped from the Disney Store in Paramus, NJ. They never put in additional cushioning. When they arrived, one of them was in a bazillion pieces while the other one had a small chip.

I called the store and said "listen to this" and shook the box. They sent me a new set without making me return the broken ones. This time they did add a bit more packaging. :thumbsup2

I order stuff through drugstore.com occasionally, and once a shampoo bottle came without a top. It didn't break off in shipping, it just wasn't there! So naturally, all the other stuff in the box was covered in shampoo...some of it paper goods which were ruined. I made a phone call to their customer service number, and they reshipped the items I claimed were ruined, no problem. Good companies will do a lot to keep you coming back.

We had a school assignment where we had to write business letters to a company whose product we bought and were dissatisfied with. One of my classmates wrote about a bad hockey bag he had bought, and the company sent him a new really expensive one

I would have done the same thing -- there's no reason why you should take a loss on something that wasn't your fault. Whenever I've received something damaged in the past the company has always been good about replacing it. Good luck!
