Have you ever pre-shipped a package to hotel?

Hi :)

Me and the hubbie are taking our first WDW vacation trip the first week of Sept. We will be flying from Kansas.

I've been reading that a good thing to do to save on some food money, is to pre-ship a small package of non-perishable food to your hotel. And that they will hold it until your arrival. (we are staying at the Contemporary)

Has anyone ever done this and do you think this would be wise to do??

I'm thinking of small snacks such as crackers, pop-tarts, dried fruits.....just for some munchies while we are at the park. (I have 3 children)

Let me know what you think. Thanks

yes, go ahead & ship those snacks ahead, it's a good idea!

we shipped ahead some toiletries to the ASMO last Sept (Fedex, 2nd Day) - box was waiting for us when we got there

doing the same thing this August when we stay at the CR

on the outside of the box, put (in addition to your name & address):

Attention: Guest (your name)

(Arrival date)

(Reservation # XXXXXXXXXX)

address for CR is:

Disney Contemporary Resort
4600 North World Drive
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

and the phone number: 407-824-1000

we're doing this to save room in the luggage for souvenirs - when we're done with the toiletries (shampoo, deodorant, etc) we'll just throw them away there!

enjoy your first WDW trip - you'll love the CR!

We shipped a package, and at the end of our stay, were presented with a bill for over $20.00 for handling charges. I had called a couple of weeks ahead of time, to ask about charges, and was told No charge--- SUPRISE!

This was at CSR. I hope to send one in October to CBR, but with my luck :( :(

Anyway, I would call, and get the CM name you speak with. I don't know if it would have helped or not.

Have fun

just called the CR - was told that there is no handling charge for shipping boxes ahead, they only ask if the boxes are not shipped too far ahead (like a week or two) because there isn't enough room to store them - i'm planning to have our box arrive 2 days ahead & was told that would be fine, it would be waiting for us in luggage (at no charge)

has anyone been charged at asmo? we will be traveling w/infant,so we definetly want to send a pkg ahead of time.

we stayed at ASMO last Sept & shipped ahead a box (which arrived the day before we did) - it was waiting for us in luggage & there was no handling charge

Cool :)

Thanks for the info. I will surely be sending a package prior, but I will also call ahead of time and get the CM's name. I don't want to be charged a handling fee. :(

We have shipped boxes (diapers, snacks, swimmies etc) to The Beach Club, Poly and The Dolphin without any problems. I would call a day before you leave to make sure it has gotten there. We have never had any problems or been charged anything. We have even sent the package back to ourselves at the end of the trip from the front desk...no problems.

Hey Ven!

Are you near Manhattan, KS?

I live in Wichita, east side, near all of the Kellogg construction...ugh... :)

We also sent a package of snacks, toiletries and laundry soap (there for ten days and wanted to save on packing room so we did laundry one evening while the kids swam in the pool) There was no charge BUT
That said, I have heard of people being charged for VERY heavy packages that are delivered. Like cases of water, pop and the like. Have fun.

Disnee Dad Says.............................................If you are trying to save money, why waste it on shipping charges?

We simply pack a carryon of the stuff mentioned and the cost is ZERO. We don't check baggage, but if we did, we could bring enough food for the whole trip, every meal, for free!

Why ship water? The shipping is more than the value, as in you are paying more to send water, than you paid for it, even if you paid nothing!

Sorry, We've been four times all the way from California, and have never understood this shipping thing.
