Have you ever measured how much you walk?

Has anyone ever worn a pedometer and accurately measure how much they walked in a day? I am interested in your stats-time in the park, which park and how much you walked. I am an avid exerciser, but cannot honestly see myself getting out of bed to exercise every day while on vacation. Also, my family does not want to wait on me! Just curious as to how much exercise we really get at the World. :yay:

I have used a good quality pedometer past few trips. I average 7 miles a day, a low of about 3.5 and a high of about 9.

It's really hard to determine this...because what one person averages may be someone else's high or someone else's low. It all depends on your touring style, how much you do in a day...etc. If you're the type of person who walks from here to there to here again at WDW and do that all day, you're going to average a lot of miles (i.e. I average around 13 miles a day there...I used a good pedometer last year to test it out). But if you're the laid back type that really takes your time and don't spend an entire day out and about, you're not going to average as much.

We averaged around 8 miles a day with the exception being abut 5 at MGM. Not quite sure how that happened.

Yes, and lost my pedometer after a lap around MK!! lol! :goodvibes
We made it from MK entrance-Frontierland-Fantasy-Toontown & saw 2500 steps (about 2 miles) at Toontown. After that pedometer decided to hop off my pocket! :teeth:

Thanks so much for all your replies so far! I wonder if there is a way to find out the distances of the loops-MK around the lands, Epcot World Showcase, etc. Does anyone work out while there? Or do you just get your exercise from walking?

I don't work out at WDW except for walking...I burn off just as many, if not more, calories by walking in WDW than I do in a typical day of good exercise.

I wore a pedometer during our trip last summer, and ny averages were about the same as Dan's ( Hi Dan  ). All I can say is, it's not such a small world after all!!!!

Great Question! I was wondering... will the miles walked keep the "Disney Pounds" from coming on? I want to enjoy all of the good food... but.. would like to see my toes when we get home!

The problem is....BTMRR and SPace M and all of those rides probably add on about 3000 steps to the pedetomer because of the shaking. :confused3

MGM's the smallest of the four parks. And the layout seems to reduce a lot of the backtracking you do in the other parks, too. (At least seems that way to me.)

That's how you logged 3 less miles. ;)

I tried to wear a pedometer on my last trip. On the 1st day I checked it around lunchtime and had clocked 14,000 steps! Then it must have fell off my pants because I never saw it again. Oh well- I strive for 10,000 per day so 14,000 at lunchtime is really good for me.

My sister wore her pedometer for a day trip to MK. We were there from about 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. In that time we walked about 8 miles. We didn't do many of the big rides because we were there with a small child, so the shakey ride theory that someone else posed doesn't apply in our case.
