I have not, but we have been told to prepare for some people to lose their jobs in 4 years when our contract is up. I'm "probably" safe, but even if I lost my job, I think it might be a blessing. Computers will take over many positions.

Have you lost a job this way?

No, but before I was a SAHM, I was in technology-related fields. I did to technical support at a software company for a while, and it's possible that that job could have been outsourced to another country. But I spent most of my working career as a technical writer (and still do odd jobs every once in a while), so there's not much of a chance that a computer could write it's own user's manual. :)

Nope, the more computers there are, the more secure my job is. :teeth:

When I worked for the phone company, directory assistant, they were switching to automated answer and were going to reduce the staff. I didn't lose my job, I had quit, but others did.

That's what I used to think. However, with Remote Assistance and other remote network health and administration tools getting better, even our tech support folks have to worry about being replaced by folks willing and able to do as good of a job for a lot less money.

Dh owns a printing business and he has lost a lot of work from his customers who are making their manuals, catalogs, health benefit books, etc. available to their clients and employees on-line instead of in printed form. It's killing us!

No, but when the 'puters came to make my work easier I actually got more work to do so I'm just as busy or busier.

I did, but luckily it was just a part time job between semesters at college. I felt really bad for the other lady in the department who was full time.

Nope. Computers/technology keep me employed.

I work in health care where there are lots of computers, but they still need a human to operate them.

I'm safe for many, many years to come!

I had a summer job at a drug factory while I was in college. I ran the machine that crimped the tops onto vials of radioactive hepatitis antigen. My dad was an engineer for the company. During the next school year he implemented a project that had a robotic arm take the place of the job I used to do. So that job wasn't available to me the next time summer came along. It was probably for the best--the machine tended to break the vials and I'd get splashed with the contents. One time I had to get checked for radiation exposure!
