Have you ever learned meditation techniques?

I always meditated through prayer but am now learning techniques.

I really like the body scan type, it's super soothing and almost trancelike but thats all I know so far and I'm wondering what else is out there.

Not really. I've been introduced to it a little bit in other contexts (volunteer meetings, yoga classes) but I never quite took to it.

I have tried to do some to relax more, but nothing beyond a YouTube video. It's really jsut deep breathing and trying to clear your mind. I can't really keep it up for very long.

Sort of. Back when I was making babies, I did a course in something called Hypnobirthing. It worked reasonably well to help me get through natural childbirth without flipping out, screaming, scaring the other mothers who were getting pain relief. The book, recordings and classes helped me do the self-hypnosis thing. It focuses on breathing, visualizations, positive affirmations.

I did Hynobirthing with my last baby!! But, she was born 4 weeks early so while it helped and I had a natural birth, I felt like I didn't get the full benefits. I wanted that trance-like state they talked about...lol.

My uncles are followers of TM (George Harrison followed TM as well) and meditate at least twice a day, sometimes for hours at a time. They tried to teach me as a kid but I didn’t get it then. I prefer Yoga and Tai Chi. With the right instructor they’re both very meditative. My DS uses the breathing app on the Apple Watch but I can’t get his twin sister to “let go” long enough for any kind of relaxation techniques.

I have mastered the art of meditation, BUT it is still very difficult for me to block all outside noise and thoughts. That's the real block to doing it for me. It is a difficult and time consuming discipline to achieve, at least for me. But it is well worth it when you do manage to do it. Good luck. Keep trying and you will succeed.

I don't follow a specific method, just various guided videos, and various sounds/frequencies/music. Sometimes you just want to fall asleep. It gets easier over time to roll with the intrusive thoughts.

I am finding it surprisingly easy to just go blank, who knew repression could be a talent? ;)

Wondering if hypnosis would be useful for migraines and such? I don't know if it's the same but it sort of seems similar, and I do like a super chill voice - sadly I do not have one myself.

I have tried hypnosis for my irrational fear of flying and it worked! I am no longer afraid to fly.
Maybe if you are that receptive hypnosis would work for your migraine. good luck.

I've used primarily a couple youtube clips that have worked. Haven't practiced much at all lately but they're good if you need to reduce stress or basic anxiety.

Learned it, and taught it. I am also a Reiki practitioner.

Had to use meditation techniques when I got chemo. Sent my driver (DH or a friend) away and put myself somewhere else while the infusions were going in. Otherwise I was too worried about everything.

Had Reiki in my cancer support center. Became a practitioner myself so I could pay it forward.
