My husband is having a hard time at work lately. He told me yesterday he felt like a "mushroom" at work; they keep him in the dark and cover him with manuer (obviously not his exact word) . He thought I was crazy because I had never heard that phrase before.

I work with a bunch of network engineers who prefer to be called mushrooms - they dont like people interaction, they want to be left alone. Like fungas...

You know what I still laugh about - remember I love the 80's - and they discussed Dungeons & Dragons players are now all running IT depts across the country? If THAT aint the truth!

I've heard and used it a lot.

The other night on Dirty Jobs Mike Rowe was working at a mushroom farm. I thought of this saying while he was there.

Yep ..... not only heard it, but that is actually an oldie! DH has been saying it for at least 20 years now.

Maybe that's how he said it. I was so stuck on him saying that he felt like a mushroom

Yes, I use it quite often at work. I am an accountant and sometimes it seems like it takes an act of congress to get the info I need. So, yes, I am kept in the dark and fed ........

I've used that one at work often! We also have a family version of it where the kids say mom is "mushrooming". That means I'm snuggled down under my blanket on the couch with nothing but a candle and the tv for light and I'm eating junk food of somekind. Usually after a bad day at work .
