Several years ago, I noticed that some of the payphones at DL would make a 'sproing' noise as I walked by. Once I was using the bank machine at the little hut inside Frontierland, and the payphone made that noise.
I picked it up, and someone said 'hello!'. Of course, I said 'hello' back, laughing that someone had 'misdialled' and reached a payphone at DL. The caller asked how I was, and I laughed, and said fine, but he'd misdialled and reached a stranger at DL.
He assured me that he had not misdialled, but was a DL CM, calling to see how I was enjoying my morning. He asked for my name, what rides I had been on, and encouraged me to go on a few more.
Of course I paid attention to the payphones on future visits, and occaissionally heard the noise but never answered another one.
Now, I never heard that at WDW. But in December 2004 I was on a payphone in the lobby of CR next to the washrooms, trying to make changes to my resort reservation. I was getting over pneumonia, and kept coughing and coughing, and wiping down the phone with anti bacterial gel and kleenex. When I got off the phone, the payphone next to it started to 'sproing', but I was coughing so much that I didn't answer it.
Was it a pixie dust call? Don't know....
Has anyone ever experienced this at DL or WDW??? Or was I just really lucky???
