My cat is now on this stuff due to having a really bad urinary blockage this week. It's supposed to help him to stop forming urinary crystals. However, it does not appear to be "extremely palatable" to him like the package says :rolleyes2 I need him to take 1/2 teaspoon of this stuff every day, and I'm not having much success. So far, I've tried just sticking it in his mouth (he spit it out!), squirting it in with a syringe (it's too thick and it ended up on the floor), mixing it with regular wet cat food (he wouldn't eat it), mixing it with tuna fish (he ate it and then spit some out...this was my only partial success). What else can I do? How do you get your cat to take this stuff? He is going to have to be on it long-term, and I'm determined to get him to take it because I never want him to get blocked up again. This week's blockage was the most horrid one ever for him, and it could have killed him :(

is it liquid? oh - I'm guessing from the name of it - a gel?

I know when I had to give my cats "Kitty downers" for airline travel I would make a ball of the stuff and stick it so far back in their mouth that they had to swallow it. Then hold their mouths closed and stroke their throats.

Not pretty and they don't like it....but it gets the job done.

Those urinary problems are just awful for the kitties - the sound that my cat used to make as he tried to pee just broke my heart. Luckily for us the "urinary" cat food seems to be working.

Yup, it's a gel. It's the same consistency as that hairball treatment stuff that you can give cats. It's too liquidy to make a ball out of, unfortunately. He HAS to take it, too. I'm not giving up on this stuff. The urinary tract food won't work for him because his stomach is super-sensitive and he just throws it up. We tried using vitamin C as an acidifier for years, and it just didn't work. We need for this stuff to work, because this problem has gotten so bad. I'm afraid that it will kill him :( It IS heartbreaking to see them in that kind of pain :(

Since it's a gel, try smearing it on the top of his paw. I do that with my cats with the hairball stuff. It drives them nuts and they lick it off.

Good luck with your kitty!

Smear it on the forepaw, he will lick it off. But make sure you get a good smear, no globs, others wise it will be shaken off and found everywhere. I hope it helps your kitty!

yeah, palatable, my butt. My cat hates it! eww!
