have you ever finished a Monopoly game?

Yes. Many times. Short ones were 2 hours. Long games, during hurricane power outages when we use "hurricane rules" at our house, take 6-8 hours or more.

Nope, but I got DBF Monopoly Express for Christmas, supposed to be a 20 min game. Someday we will try it. LOL

To be fair, my kids are pretty heinously bad at Monopoly and I am a ruthless b!*@#. So, yeah, I can easily clean them out in two hours. However, their dad kicks my butt at Scrabble.

Yes. I think we started playing when I was 15 yrs old and finished just in time for my 21st b-day. We went out for drinks afterward to celebrate that I was finally of legal age to drink AND to celebrate that we'd finally finished a round of Monopoly! (Somewhere in there I must've graduated high school too but it's all a blur now!) ;)

I just got my you-know-what handed to me by DS13 on Saturday! I hate long games, so I have been putting him off for weeks, but I finally agreed to play this weekend. I was so happy when I realized he has Mega Monopoly. Have you seen that game? Bigger board, bigger money ($1000 bills!) more properties, etc. Each color has one extra property. Three dice instead of two, and other things are different as well. The idea is for the game to be faster paced. I think it probably was, because we don't usually finish games, either. This one we finished in about two hours, and like I said, I totally took a beating!

At least it was fun - not nearly as boring as I thought it would be.

I don't think that I've ever finished a regular Monopoly game. We have Monopoly for the Wii though and we finish those games all the time. It's pretty much the same except you can't cheat by hoping that someone doesn't notice that you landed on their property. The game automatically pays the owner of the property from your money.

I purchased monopoly but still do not know how to play it. It so strange that I used to play when I was young maybe 9/10 and now 40+ and I want to play with dd and do not know how to play I am embarrassed to say. I know that you purchase the property when you land on it if you want but I do not get what happens when other land on it and how much they pay. I wish there was a website that explains it in easy terms.:rolleyes1

Haha, that is totally me! Even when I was a teenager baby-sitting, I was crazy against the kids! I remember one girl begged me not to buy Park Place because it was her "favorite property." Not a chance that was happening!
I don't start a game of Monopoly I don't intend to finish. I usually finish in 3-4 hours, longer with extended breaks.

I have finished a few games but most we just call after about 2 hours and the one with the most money wins. I always manage to kick fanny when I play against my cousins cuz they always waste their money on small properties while I save for the big ones and get them when they land on the property.

yes i have. but it took forever

many times. i usually lose. i'm too nice to make people pay rent when they're running out of money, and it comes back to bite me pretty quickly. lol

We bought a different version a few years ago where the paper money has been replaced by a credit card. All transactions are done automatically through a small calculator. Much easier and swifter than the original version.

Usually anywhere from 4-8 hours depending on which version of the game we're playing and how many of us are playing. All 5 of us played the new Monopoly City version over Christmas break for about 6-8 hours. In that one you build residential and industrial divisions in 3-D. Pretty neat!

WOW I can't imagine 6-8 hours! Sounds fun - but my butt & back would be killing me! LOL

WE played about 2.5-3 hours(can't remember when we started 'cause we played UNO 1st) - the 3 of us, the kiddos 11&7

Ya know the rules aren't real hard to read that come with it - I had to refresh myself on the rules. We got the Disney version & its a bit different 'cause it adds Tink to the mix. But as far as when someone purchases a property then on the card that they hold it says how much rent they have to pay - then if they start adding houses on there the amount to pay gets higher & the property card says on there specifically how much for 1 house - 2 houses,3 houses and a hotel
