Have you ever embarrassed yourself when dialing a wrong number?

I'm a quiet person and hardly ever do anything that's really embarrassing. However, I think that I now have a good answer when someone asks me the next time what my most embarrassing moment was. :p

I woke up sick with a horrible cold on Wednesday. I spent most of that day in bed. DH worked from home, so he watched Jacob and basically just brought him to me when he needed to eat.

On Thursday, I thought I was feeling better. DH went to work and I was fine, and then when he said he needed to go run some errands after work, I didn't even think about asking him to stay.

Things took a turn for the worse almost as soon as he left. The baby got cranky and hungry. I tried to feed him, but I guess I was just exhausted because I ran out of milk, which has never happened before. Jacob decided that the way to make me make more milk was to bite the crud out of me. After about seven really hard bites, I finally put him down while I defrosted some milk in the freezer to make a bottle. He screamed the whole time.

I decided to call DH while I was making the bottle because I was on the verge of a meltdown. I called his cell and could barely hear him because of all the screaming. I asked him when he was coming home, and he acted like he didn't even know what I was talking about. Well, that just got on my last nerve, so I started crying and yelling at him at the same time. Then I heard someone who was clearly not my DH say, "Who is this?" I said, "Um, who am I talking to?" He said it was Dale. DH's name is Chris. So I just said, "I'm so sorry. I dialed the wrong number." And I hung up.

I've thought about calling the guy back and apologizing (I was able to see on my phone what number I had called after I hung up), but it's probably no use. I'm sure the guy made a mental note to never answer his phone again if he sees my name on the caller ID. :teeth:

Poor Kermit. Hope you are feeling better, now.

I can't say I've ever said anything weird on the phone. I probably have. My memory is going with old age. ;)

I do sometimes forget when I order at the drive thru and I add "that'll be to go". Duh. Like I'd go through the drive thru and then eat it right there.

I don't know about embarrassing on the phone but weird yes. I call ed a wrong # once (didn't know it wasn't wrong) and the lady that answered wanted to know how I got her # and why did I call. The person I was trying to get has a mil staying there who is old so I thought maybe she was having problems. Anyway, after trying to explain that I thought I had the wrong # and her yelling at me about why I called I hung up. She was really paranoid. I looked the # up and called the right # the next time. I was 1 # away.

I answered my phone at work the other day and the caller said "so how's the prozac?". I said "excuse me?". He goes "Kelly?" (not someone at my company). We have caller ID and I recognized the number as one of our agents but did not recognize his name when he said it. I said "what # did you call?". he goes "I don't know, I just pressed the speed dial". My guess is this agency has a speed dial system on their phones and my number is one of them, he hit the wrong one. I was going to ask my contact at the agency who this guy was, but I just let it go!

Well hopefully it gave you a good laugh anyway. I had one call once where some kid said, "Hi Mommy!" I know it wasn't mine, since I don't have any kids :teeth: But that's about it for me.

Several years ago I was sitting at home waiting for a date to call and tell me what time he would be there. It was already late and I was pretty sure I was being stood up. Anyway, the phone rings, it's a guy looking for someone else. I tell him he has the wrong number. Well, we start talking and talking and talking......... Before I know it I have talked to this stranger for like an hour and a half. He was so friendly and easy to talk to.
At least it made me forget that I had been stood up. LOL

We used to have this friend nicknamed Twig. I thought I had called his number so I asked for Twig......the guy said no twigs here how about a limb or a trunk? ;)

LOL Cinders--atleast he had a good sense of humor.
Kermit--wow, so sorry about your day. Sometimes it is so hard with little ones. I had a biter too. They say dont jump or do anything that the baby would find entertaining and want to see again but I'd like to see them just sit there and not move with someones teeth stuck in you.
Once in high school I was trying to call my friend Elizabeth--we were going to a Six Flags park that day. Anyway dialed the number, asked for Elizabeth--AND I got one! but other than that she didnt have a clue what I was talking about, lol. I finally figured out it was not "my Elizabeth" and hung up the phone. Waaaay back before caller id so no way anyone would know who I was.

Dialing the wrong number doesn't bother me. I just apologize and try again.

Now the other night, we had a wrong number late. The Caller ID said 'Camden, NJ'. I picked and said "hello". Nothing. A couple times later, she finally spoke. She says in a valley girl/NJ aceent..."Ohhhhh ma GAWD" and hangs up. I don't know what the deal was.

You know you live in a small town when you dial a wrong number - and talk for a half an hour anyway.

In college my boyfriend and I had on the radio and they were looking for the tenth caller to answer the name of the song and the name of the band. I knew both, so boyfriend called in. He said it's ringing! Quite excited I got on the phone, radio station answered, and I said, "Hey Nineteen!" "Steely Dan!". The radio station said, "Wrong radio station!!"

Maybe thats why that boyfriend did not become DH...
