Hi all! Have you ever emailed the wrong person? I did it once, but it wasn't an email that would have embarassed me, it was just emailing some plans for a school function.

I was just thinking that one day I am going to email someone by accident and REALLY be embarassed!

Has that ever happened to you? S

I have accidentally sent an email to my BIL...which should have went to a friend of mine....things he shouldn't have read:eek: But I talked my way out of it!!:)

I received an email from FIL's cousin that was meant for my MIL....I couldn't for the life of me understand why she was writing me and the subject of her email (as well as the wording:eek: ) was something that I would have never thought of from her. I don't think the cousin ever found out that I got it by mistake.......I just forwarded over to my MIL.

Needless to say....I am VERY careful when sending emails now!!

I have sent a mail for my son to a friend and vice versa (no big deal though)......their names are next to each other in my address book and the first 2 letters are the same

DH sent an email intended for a kids event to one of DS8's friends instead of the recipient. It did give us a chuckle at the time.

I've never misguided an e-mail that I know of but......

many years ago, the company I worked for had somewhat of an IM system where messages could be sent back and forth and would just appear on the recipients computer screen. Well, one of my friends had just told us she was pregnant with her bosses child. Another friend and I were "chatting" about our pregnant friend. Come to find out, I was sending these messages to the computer screen of my pregnant friend who was not sitting at her desk. They were just stacking up waiting for her to return for anyone to read. When I realized what I had done, I ran up to stairs to delete them off her screen. I don't know if I was the one to let the cat out of the bag (so to speak) or not. Ooops!

ROFL!!!!
Just recently we were having problems with our insurance company. They werent paying our bills and I kept on DH to check it out(its through his work). He kept telling me that was normal for insurance companies, blah blah blah. So one day we get a bill that says our insurance denied it because our insurance had been cancelled(I knew it wasnt because we just received new cards in the mail, and our premiums come directly from DH's paycheck). So, I was all freaking out and I came to the computer to send DH an email, ranting and raving about this bill. Instead of "replying" to his earlier email, I "replied" to a PM notice from the Dis. Boy was I embarrassed!!!! :o

No, but I have been the recipient of some. Always from total strangers (just must have gotten a letter or number wrong). I just email back and say I'm not who they are looking for.

I've pm'd the wrong person

I never say anything in email or pm that I wouldn't tell the world so I'm pretty safe, so far ;)

I haven’t, thank goodness -- I’m really careful about that. But a friend that I work with tried to send me a joke once and accidentally sent it to someone with a similar name at one of our divisions. The joke was a little risqué, and the girl who got it reported it to our corporate ethics director. Luckily we know the ethics director very well and he didn’t make a big deal out of it, but my friend could have lost her job for that.

I am on the receiving end of a lot of wrong emails. There are three John Hayes' who work at our company. I happen to be the first one, so my email address is "john.hayes@company.com". The other two guys are forced to use "john.<middle initial>.hayes@company.com". Needless to say, everyone assumes that their JH's are unique, so they routinely fire off emails to the wrong person (aka ME).

I get at least two emails a day that I end up forwarding as well as replying to in an effort to educate the huddled masses. The funny thing is that we are all forced to use Lotus Notes and, when you enter a name that is the least bit ambiguous, you are prompted to select from a list. Apparently our company has a lot of clueless individuals sending emails.

I've pm'd the wrong person before too, Katholyn and MJ.:teeth:

Yes, I've emailed the wrong person before too.

Not Me!

BUT

PRINCESS VIJA sent an email somewhere else that was suppose to go to me ---- she was embarrased.....

Think we can get her to 'share' some of it here?

Hee Hee Vija -- couldn't help myself!
:teeth:

have I ever! When I first started my current job - I didn't like someone very much. And I was emailing someone about it and called someone some pretty nasty things:eek:   - I know - and I'm so nice!!!!:o - Anyway when I replied to an email I replied to the person I was talking about:eek:   . I almost lost my job!!! But we talked it out - Now that person and I are good friends LOL!!  Go figure!

Yes. I once set an email to DH's cousin to (address)@aol.com instead of (address)@hotmail.com. It was kind of an important message telling of the birth of a new baby, so the guy I sent it to wrote back and notified me of my mistake. He was really quite nice about it. We emailed a few times back and forth joking about it and all was fine.

I once posted what was suppose to be a PM as a NEW THREAD
thats where my tag came from

luckily it was a very nice PM ;)

Yup! To someone on the DIS!. Suite Disney! It wasn't too mushy, though it was intended for my DH! Definately PG, thank goodness. We all had a bit of a laugh.:p Other than that one time, never. I'm very careful now. ;)

Before I was a sahm I worked at an Imaging facility. I was a supervisor in Patient services (we verf ins and obtained precert) I sent an e-mail to the supervisor of the billing dept about a problem I had with one of his employees. Well our bosses e-mail addy was right above the other I needed to chose and well I hoit the wrong one. So then our boss called him to find out what the problems was. I felt so bad, told him how sorry I was a he didnt hold it against me (very long).

I was designing my sisters bridal shower invitations on the computer and thought I emailed my mom to show her. Wrong! I emailed my sister. It wasnt too much of a mistake though- she did know she was having a shower, just not the details.

Sure have...nothing really embarrassing though. I have three friends named Jennifer so I've sent the wrong Jennifer something before...same as phone calls.
