Have you ever defragmented?

If I start my pc in safe mode, will anything be running? Will I still have to shut things down. What I worry about is if I shut something down, I won't remember how to turn it back on. I have probably never done a real defrag on any of the pc's in our house.

If you shut down based on how they said, all you have to do is reboot your machine. Those programs will come back up on their own.

What if you have XP? Then what do you have to do?

Well, it took about 4 hours to complete (My C drive must have been in various states of disarray...LOL), but I've finally defragmented my PC. And am I ever glad I did! It runs like it's fresh out of the box now. How great! Thanks for all the help folks!

I defragmented once. . it was an extremely painful process, but I did feel a lot better afterwards and seemed to function at a much more efficiant level for ahwile. . .

Ohhhhh. . wait; you guys are talking about computers, aren't you?? . . .

Never mind. . .

When you load up XP there should be an option that let's you load up in normal mode or in VGA mode. You should select the VGA mode.
