Have you ever considered skydiving???

I don't know Steve.... I would have looked at it as a pre wedding test...If I die it wasn't meant to be :)

But if I broke a leg, I'd die of unnatural causes (e.g. at the hands of my future wife!) ;)

I jumped in 91, static line - which is where you are on your own. A bunch of us went after seeing the movie ''Point Break".

So of course, me being the clutz I am I BROKE MY ANKLE and after 6 hours of surgery and many months of casts and Physical Therapy I am better now, of course with two large scars.

That being said, it was one of the best things I've ever done. It was an experience like no other, one that I reccomend to anyone that asks about it.

What makes me laugh is after I was driven off in an ambulance, all my friends still jumped. I think I might have freaked and not gone if it were me...

About 3 years ago I went white water rafting with some friends and on our drive home we passed a skydiving place. We decided to stop. I did a tandem jump, that's when the instructor is hooked on to you from behind. He pulled the cord and worried about the landing, I just got to look around. At one point he let me control the shute once it was open but I ended up spinning us around and makeing myself a little queasy. I even had it videotaped (which is a good thing because my family would not have beleived me if I hadn't). It was awesome, the view and the rush from it are just amazing. The landing was so gentle, we just came to a very gentle stop, I didn't fall. I didn't even wobble.

I can't wait to find time to do it again. You should go for it!

I did it in college, too. I did the static line. The pack was almost heavier than me. They literaly had to push me out of the plane! Then I forgot to jump; I was so excited to be on the wing of the plane, flying. (Although apparantly the instructor thought I was scared, I remember no fear, only exhilaration.)

A roommate did it more recently, going tandem. She jumped from a significantly higher altitude, maye 10,000ft v. 2,700 feet, and didn't have to sit through the 3-4 hours of training that I sat through. She loved tandem, but given the choice, I'd do the static line again. I'd rather do it "myself".

Have fun if you do it!!!!

I would do it in a HEARTBEAT. Hubby says I can't.... *sigh*.

Someday , though... I will. My mom went 2 summers ago and swears she's going again, next time with me.

DH and I were just talking about this this past weekend. I told him that I could honestly say that, even if someone legitimately told me that they would pay me a million dollars if I would make a jump, I physically COULD NOT DO IT.

He informed me that, if someone was going to pay me a million dollars to do it, he would personally blindfold me and push me out of the plane. :D

I've always told DH that I want to skydive but I know I never would. Too chicken :D

I'll get in any airplane old or older is fine with me. I've been on aerobatic flights in antique biplanes way cool. But no way I am getting out of one if it is still fly-able.

LOL, Dodie! :teeth:

As for me, this is definitely NOT on my list of "must do" things before I die. Never had any desire. I had a friend in my 20s who did it a few times and she enjoyed it.

I prefer my thrills on the ground. ;)
