Have you ever been on The Mission Space Ride?

my daughter and i rode it several times back in june/july 2003 during the soft opening...and then again during xmas of 2003...it is a great ride and should not be missed but be sure to read and "understand" all of the warning signs...they are for your best interest...
i have read that disney has taken some of the edge off the ride...i hope that isn't the case as it could have been kicked up a notch or two for me...i guess i'll find out in june....

My DH, DD (8) and I loved it!

I was also nervous because of all the hype, but we ended up riding it 3 times in March. Star Tours and Body Wars (now closed) are too rough for me - the jerky motions combined with the visual make me ill. Spinning rides are not fun for me either, but I usually find a way to manage. However, MS was just right. I didn't know I was "spinning" (not much anyway). The experience was well worth the horribly long wait we had before riding it for the first time (45 minutes in the FastPass line)! The 2nd & 3rd times we rode, we only waited about 10 minutes in the FastPass lines (at most).

FYI: I take a motion sickness med (OTC-meclizine) when I know I'll be trying new spinning rides, motion simulation rides, or watching circle-vision or IMAX-type movies. MS might have really gotten to me without this. I'm not a druggie, I just know when to take a precautionary step for my own personal comfort....same as some people do on a cruise, long car trip, etc.

then i watched the travel channel's show on wdw and saw the mission space ride - it spins upwards of 35 mph! I said "FORGET IT!"

I don't want to take a chance screwing up my head/equilibrium and getting dizzy, etc. Not worth it!
::yes::

Went on MS once, that's probably enough for me. Rode with 3 others and though we didn't experience any severe difficulties, we all felt "odd" for a couple of hours afterwards. No other ride at WDW has after-affects for us and since after-affects aren't what I would call a desireable ride experience, I'll pass on MS from now on and leave it those that seem to like it better.

This ride is a MUST DO! The launch sequence is absolutely a thrill! wow.............. They keep you busy as you are 'assigned' to perform different functions during the ride by the push of a button. Kinda keeps you active during the ride. All I can say is the it took my land legs away from me and It took me about 10 minutes to get back to 'normal'. There is plenty of seating outside the ride, so, don't hesitate to take a break if you need too after you get off.:earseek:

I'm changing my warning-like tone from before. I thought only total thrill seekers should go on it before, but today in church our pastor mentioned how he went on it with his teenage kids. He did say that he prayed throughout the ride after he saw the barf bags right in front of him though. So if he could survive I don't see why any other parent of teenage age people can't. Go for it.

My fiancee and I were there in December and since there was literally no line we walked right on. The first time I had a blast. It was a lot of fun and I only felt slightly woozy.

Again, since there was no line my fiancee decided "hey! Let's get right back on!!!" The second time around I thought I might die. I thought I may have to grab the air sick bag. Even he admitted not to do that in a row again.

My advice? DON'T DO IT TWICE IN A ROW!!! :) lol!

I went on it in December last year knowing nothing about it. (I hadn't been to Disney for 12 years). It was great! I did feel woozy after the first time, but used the time while my brother and his wife went on it, to recover. Then my SIL and I went back on it. This time I kept occupied during the ride by playing with ALL of the switched and buttons, like a real engineer. It added to the theme of the ride and when I got off, I was fine.

We will be doing this again on our next trip. :D

Mission Accomplished !!!!!

Me and my 6 year old daughter loved it, as we controlled the whole thing, as 2 riders decided to not get on it (was a father and his 12 year old son) 4 people ride at the same time so it was just us 2, the operator asked the boy if he was ready to go, he shook his head looking scared and chose not to get on it....

The ride really isn't really that bad........get on it you will love it.

We are sad now as we just got home from WDW, time to get back into reality after 8 days.................

:( :( :( :( :( :sad2: :sad2:
