Have you ever attended a DIS meet?

Just curious as to what your DIS meet experience was like. How many have you attended?

I'm also trying to get ideas as to what kind of planning goes into a DIS meet, in case I ever want to set one up myself.

I have done one DIS meet, aboard the Disney Magic. We had all been chatting on the DCL boards for a while, and we had set our kids up to be pen pals, and they had been writing each other for 4 or 5 months prior to the cruise.

The meet was just before the sailaway party out on Deck 9. Someone made buttons for everyone to wear with their screen name and real name on it. Someone else brought lifesavers with customized wrappers on them. The penpals brought little prizes for each other. It was great to finally meet everyone in person. We saw each other throughout the week and it made the cruise that much more fun. I would definitely do a DIS meet again.

We do them every few months in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. We have one coming up on August 19th: D/FW DIS meet!!!

Sometimes we get together for a special event. When the Mickey statues were touring the country, we met at the Gaylord Texan to see them. Another time some of us got together for a murder mystery dinner. Most often, we'll just meet for a meal and chatting.

Some great DISers have made nametags or brought little gifts on occasion, and those treats are wonderful and lots of fun. But all that's *really* necessary is for someone to pick a date and a suitable location, and to get the word out to let folks know.

DH and I attended our DIS meet on the Magic as well this past January. It actually started unofficially in the terminal. We had lime green bracelets made and we all recognized each other from the start. It was an awesome week and I miss everyone still. We had all gotten acquainted on the Cruise Meets board and it was as if we all knew each other before we ever met. Our first actual DIS meet was during the sail away party on Deck 10 to wave goodbye to the CMs at the terminal.

Not a DIS meet, I've never seen a St. Louis one. But I have met people from internet message boards before. In fact next weekend I'm going to Chicago with a group of moms I met on a Babies Born in July 2004 board.

I helped organize a St. Louis meet here many years ago - probably back in 2000/2001. We met at the Dave and Busters and had a really good time. I keep thinking it might be time to have another one.

Not as many as I used to go to, but I have in the past. They just don't seem as common around here as they used to be. I've done the majority of mine in OH/PA/MI/IN/IL area. Had a teeny meet on Tuesday actually. Have had tons more at WDW

It's something I enjoy doing and kind of enjoy doing at WDW. Sometimes those are great and sometimes I feel like I am wasting good time standing around when I could be going on rides

Othertimes I love it! There is a group of people I am friends with from the DIS that I truly enjoy going to WDW with. We just have a blast! I have even roomed with a few before.

Too bad I missed that one. I would have traveled the hour and a half to Burlington...that is if RI Disers were invited!

I've thought about that before about the Rainforest. We've gone to the one in Burlington and the one in CT and I've told Dwife how they remind me of being in Disney.

I have been to two official DIS Meets but that was a couple of years ago. It was very nice and interesting meeting others from here. I highly recommend going if you ever have a chance!

Recently this year I met with Tink33-Lesley, Maryjo, and KPeterso at the Pirates of the Caribbean DMC premiere at Disneyland. It was so much fun! Lesley gave me and my family the New Pirates M & M's as a little goodie.

I have met some Dis-ers at WDW, we have made some great friends who are in DVC and invited us over, and I had lunch with Dan Murphy in Chicago. In the pre-Disboards era I met some people locally and for a brief time we had a chapter of the NFFC.

I'm part of a DIS ladies only meet that will take place at WDW in Sept. I've met my roomie, who lives not too far away & works in NYC like I do. Then I'll meet the rest of them at Disney World at the end of September!

I went to this one and everyone was really great! It was cool putting faces with usernames.

I also went to the big one in Allentown a couple weeks ago. Those are my only two DIS meets, but I've met other people from online groups before.

We've been to quite a few of them. Pin traders on the DIS used to meet up quite frequently.

We've also hosted a few of our own - small ones with anywhere from about 10 people (when SideShowBob came to Richmond) to huge ones. I think DW MeanLaureen and her friend AZJazzyJ must hold a record for the biggest DIS meet. They had a turnout of over 175 people for their Great Pin Adventure meet. They had to rent the ballroom at the Swan to hold everyone!
