Have you ever accidentally thrown something valuable away?

Not really valuable but I accidentally left my dogs favourite mini basketball in the box for the cardboard and it was taken away.

Yes although accidentally donated and not thrown away. I accidentally mixed up a bag that was supposed to go to Goodwill and one that was supposed to go to the dry cleaners. The bag that was supposed to go to the dry cleaners of course had my husband's favorite suit and my favorite cocktail dress as we had just come back from a wedding :sad2:.

My wife accidentally threw away her wedding ring in the garbage. I was able to find it just hours before the garbage truck came.

My Mama used to hide money from herself, she would put about $100 worth of cash in weird places. We have thrown away or donated many books, coats, purses, tupperware that contained at least $100 in cash. She would also "misplace" these items for years and you could be going through an old container of some sort and at the bottom would be cash.

My wedding ring. Took me months to finally figure out that I had thrown it away while cooking raw chicken.

My glasses. Best I can figure is they were hidden in the stack of newspaper that went to recycling

DH accidentally donated a bag of authentic African dresses that a friend had brought me back from Ghana .

Last year I was cleaning out the cupboard where I keep the dogs products and I was sorting thru everything and their heartworm pills got in the “toss” pile! I didn’t realize until it came time to give them their monthly heartworm pills so I ended up at the vets buying them, again!

I think, though I am not sure, that I may have donated a whole bunch of Disney pins. I certainly haven't seen them since we moved 3 years ago.

When I was wrapping Christmas presents one year I must have accidentally thrown away a bag with $300 worth of gift cards. I think it got mixed in with the trash pile. Didn't realize it until a week later- 2 days before Christmas. Had to run out and replace them.

Now I am very careful to keep the gc in a totally separate area when I wrap!

My DD's Barney slippers when she was 5. Was supposed to just teach a lesson, and it SURE did...to ME! I still feel guilty to this day ~(she's 27) Man, she LOVED those things and beat herself up that she lost them and I didn't realize they got scooped up with stuff that went into the trash. It got figured out like, 3 years later.

I lost one of my diamond earrings. Turns out my son (who was 2 at the time) flushed it down the toilet

Had back to back closings, sold one house, bought another. We did not put all of the proceeds from the sale into the new house and were given a 6 figure check. While cleaning up the just sold home I threw the check away. I didn't realize it until the next day when I decided I better deposit the check. I had to go through a bunch of garbage bags before I found the check.

The same to me. Once I threw away my daughter's golden earrings in the garbage. She was so upset, cause they were very memorable (gift for bday). We weren't able to find them, the garbage truck came few days later, but it didn't help .. So we had to buy a new one.

Dh and I lived in a old family mobile home for 2 years when we first married.

I was making a dish with dough and and had floured my hands to work wih the dough and took off my heart shaped diamond 1st anniversary ring.

After cleaning up, I could not find my ring -looked in the garbage-everywhere.

I insisted where I had likely left my rings. The only place it could have been was on the counter. And that the ring must have fallen in behind the counter. Dh went outside the next day, took off a panel of the aluminum siding and sure enough, found my ring in the insulation in the wall behind where the counter met the wall.

Not me but my Mom accidentally threw my brand new driver's license away when I was 16. Of course to this day, I always wondered how accidental was that throw away!! :rotfl:

One of my in-laws threw my engagement ring away by accident. We had my ring serviced because one of my diamonds was loose and they were able to pick it up. (Jeweler was 15 minutes from them and 2 hours from us). Somehow the bag with my ring got cleared off the counter and throw away before I could pick it up.

My husband's entire paycheck - in cash - 25 years ago. Luckily, circumstances prevented me from taking that can to the curb so I was able to retrieve it when the realization hit me.
