Have you eaten at Boma? If so what is it like. I made ADR's for Sept and I'm not sure my kids will like it. Is the food spicy? Is the food to exotic for my main stream kids? Any info would help greatly.

We actually just had dinner there on Friday night. It was wonderful. They have plenty of food for kids. Chicken fingers, french fries, mac & cheese. They are also some adult things they can eat also. They have a wonderful prime rib, chicken, some SPICY potato wedges. And the desserts will make EVERYONE happy. My 5 yr old said that he LOVED Boma after dinner there.

We ate there last May & really enjoyed it. (I wish I could fit it into our dining plans for this June!)

Our kids had plenty to eat - lots of fresh fruit (huge strawberries!), different breads, & the typical selections of a children's buffet (chicken fingers, mac & cheese, etc.).

I can be a picky eater, but I found plenty to eat as well. I enjoyed trying all the different foods. One of the soups I tried was amazingly good! I also liked some kind of tomato & couscous dish. The buffet also had steak & roasted potatoes. The peanut rice was yummy! And, of course, the desserts were wonderful! I love the Zebra Domes!

ETA - Forgot to mention - If you're not already staying at the AKL, get there early for your ADR or plan to stay after your meal for a few minutes to walk around the resort. The AKL is gorgeous, and the cast members are so friendly! Our kids enjoyed watching the animals in the savannah.

We went there last september, and it was soooooo good! We had to make an ADR for our next trip!

It wasn't as etnic or different as we thought, but we still enjoyed it. We live in Montreal, so we are really used to different kinds of cuisines, but this seemend to be more of light twists on good food.

Make sure to try the butternut squash soup, it is delish! :cloud9:

My oldest son and I love the food but Dh and DS#2 do not. They even claim the the meat has funny spices and so does the pasta sauce. Not sure that this is vaild but they don't like it. They are both happy as Chef Mickey's and Cape May more mainstream type of food.

Thanks for your help. Boma sounds good. Seeing the AKL sounds good too.

We really like Boma--lots of selections & some interesting ones, too.

Have to say we mightily enjoyed the many different soups & salads.
We sat toward the back, in the big window, so we could really drink in the stunning African-style ambience. The servers were attentive & cheerful.

DH & I aren't in to buffets, but we found this one fun & interesting. We like spices in our food, so we could have used some more of the exotic flavors, but we were just fine with all of the offerings.
DS17 (along with DFIL :goodvibes ) are big buffet hounds so Boma is a favorite spread now. :thumbsup2

We'll be back for sure! :sunny:

So far, Boma is the only buffet at WDW that I enjoy (note: I haven't been to all of them though). It is now a must do every trip! I even like to arrive an hour or so early so we can wander around the AKL and stop by Victoria Falls for a lil drinkie drink. :thumbsup2

As for the buffet, I tried a little bit of everything. Of course there were many things I didn't like, but many more things that I did like. I think they have some of the best prime rib. Oh... and the desserts! Mmmm... Zebra Domes! I'm guessing we had about 20 of those things between the 3 of us. :teeth: sooo good...

We'll be going back in October for sure!

We ate at Boma's in October, with some adventurous eaters, and some NOT adventurous, and there was definitely enough choice for everyone! Plus, everyone tried something new!

We went to Boma with a DD3 and DD1 and thought the food was probably the best of the six or so TS's we had that week. There was enough for kids to eat (though our's are fairly adventurous eaters), and the meats, potatoes, and desserts were all wonderful.

We love Boma! My DS 6 is super picky and he always finds plenty to eat. And is a big boy so he eats alot! The only complaint he has is that the mac and cheese tasted funny. When my husband and I tried it, it seemed as if they forgot to add salt. I don't know if that is the way they normally make it or if they goofed. Everything else was wonderful as always. Boma has become the one restaurant we always fit into every trip no matter how busy we are! :cool1:

DH and I ate At Boma last August. In fact we ate there three times. Twice for Breakfast and once for dinner. We loved it. There are a lot of choices. DH liked dinner better than breakfast. I enjoyed breakfast better. But I thought dinner was good. We are going to go back next year. In fact DH says it was of the best meals we had last August. I think that you will enjoy it. I know one of my favorite things to get there is Pap. It was so good. And I also liked the Frunch. This was basically a blend of fruit juices. If I remember correctly you can only get it at breakfast. I also had the Kenyan Pressed coffee. It was okay, but I prefer the pressed coffee at the Kona Cafe better. Sorry I can not remember the name. But I love Boma. :lovestruc :lovestruc. Reading this thread about Boma is making me hungry. :cloud9:

I loved Boma when we were there last September. The only thing I didn't care for was the Salmon. It had too much of some kind of spice that I didn't care for. Everything else was Yummy. ESPECIALLY the salads. Who ever heard of Watermelon Rind Salad? It was great. And what I like about it is that they have a chef at each pod so that you can ask questions, and they will make suggestions. Wonderful.

One word for Boma's OUTSTANDING! I'll be there Saturday night.

What you didn't say was which meal? Had dinner in the past and breakfast in March and 2 years ago. Just go Hungry! There is no way you can actually sample a touch of everything, so odds are you'll be amply satisfied. My son is a real picky eater and he also left having eaten a decent meal (although in his case it's really a profit maker for the restaurant, and he's 17 now!) They will modify dishes if you ask them. We had made our ADR for dinner informing them that I was a diabetic so I would have a sugar free dessert, but it turns out certain dishes have sugar in them. They let me know which ones and offered to make any of them so I could safely eat them, and for that I was truly impressed. Bottom line is that we all left happy, and that's the main idea anyway! Enjoy your meal, odds are you all will.

Everyones taste are so different but heres our take on Boma. Our boys are 13 and 16, Boma is the only buffet that they insist on. When I added two nights to our trip this ummer and announced we needed to add two more TS's they voiced their need for a second Boma trip.

We love Boma; however, the two 14 year olds in my group definitely did NOT care for it. It wasn't a big deal, they were able to "fill up" on the kids buffet and desserts; however, it's not fun to pay $27.00 a piece for them so they can eat chicken strips.

They did much better at the other buffets. But I really loved it and would go again, even with the 14 year olds.

Gotta reply and elaborate (as I am your DH). First, yes, I do love Boma! I think that you honestly can't go wrong dining there, no matter if it's breakfast or dinner. But I do prefer dinner, simply because it offers more adventurous selections than does breakfast (though, as you know, Honey, they do offer a traditional Japanese breakfast, if you ask your server about it, but, alas, I wasn't adventurous enough to try it).

So. My $0.02? If you'd like to try Boma, but don't have all that adventurous a palate, go at breakfast. But if you truly want a walk on the wild side, as it were, dinner's the meal for you. :thumbsup2

Can I ask a dumb question? What is a traditional Japanese breakfast?

We had breakfast there our last trip and it was fantastic. Fresh made omelettes if you're not adventurous (DH) and other great choices if you are. I'm looking forward to trying dinner there on our next trip. Hopefully my DH won't mind too much.
