to swim in a pool at a resort you aren't staying at? My girlfriend stayed at POR and swam at the BCV-I didn't think you could do that but she siad no one noticed. Just curious.

Sarah

Nope.

Pool hopping is NOT allowed unless you are a DVC member staying on points and even then Stormalong Bay at the YC/BC (Unless you are staying at the BCVS) and the pool at the AKL are off limits.

Lifeguards at SAB check room keys at give out wristbands only to guests at YC/BC/BCVs

Pin what about the other resorts like OKW or POR-does every hotel do that? We stayed at POR and no one checked anything. I thought you could only swim at the resort you were staying at. Are the pools at AKL and BC the only ones not allowed. What about the AS pools. We aren't even staying on site but we are having abig debate in our neighborhood right now.

Sarah

There is no pool hopping allowed at any WDW resort hotel, except for DVC members and that is subject to restrictions.

Sarah, do you have your asbestos suit on? Pool-hopping is/can be a very "warm" topic here.

The official line is: Pools at resorts are reserved for the exclusive use of that resort's guests. Pool hopping is NOT allowed unless you are a DVC member staying on points. To use the YC/BC or AKL pools, you must be staying at those resorts (YC/BC includes BC Villas).

Unofficially, people have reported asking at the front desk at some resorts and on occasion being given permission to swim in a resort pool where they are not a guest.

My advice would be to call the resort and ask for permission. If they say it's ok, then ENJOY! But I wouldn't just show up at the pool. Most resort pools do not check IDs, but Stormalong Bay does this regularly (not all the time, but if it starts to get crowded they will). I don't know if AKL does this, but that's another very popular pool that can get crowded quickly.

I got this right out of the newsletter that Disney gives to each resort guest at check in:

***Resort pools are intended for the exclusive use of registered Guests of that particular resort.***

That is pretty plain and simple. It doesn't matter if someone did it and didn't get caught. That doesn't make it right.

Have a great visit!!!!

You can only swim at the resort you are staying at or the sister pools at that particular resort-like at the All Stars-between Movies, Music, etc.

You can only pool hop if you are a DVC member and that excludes YC/BC and AKL.

You can't use any of the pools if you are staying off site.

Disney has become much more strict recently about asking for I.D.'s and they have asked people to leave pool areas who don't belong there.

They also give out wrist bands at SAB.

We are renting points from a DVC member in Nov. Are we allowed to pool hop? We probably won't, but I'm just curious if we could. I want to book DD to do the pirate cruise and tea party on the same day, so besides renting a boat while waiting for her, could we take a swim at the GF pool?

There's only one other asterisk to this rule. If all or part of your resorts pool is being rehab'ed, they will usually allow you to swim at a neighboring resort. The the slide was down at SAB in January and we were staying at the YC, we were allowed to walk over to the BWV and use their pool if we wanted.

Desnik, If you are staying at a DVC resort on points, whether owned or rented, you are allowed to pool hop (SAB and AKL excepted).

Hi Sarah, what is everyone debating? Being able to swim at the resort pools if not staying on site?

I didn't understand your question, sorry.

>>^..^<<

Hold on everyone! As I stated there is a debate in our neighborhood on this subject . I keep insisting that it is NOT allowed and there are others that are saying it is and others that say it's probably not but they don't get caught. So who better to ask than you guys I knew I would get the official answer. I am not asking so that I can do it . I just wanted an answer. Geez turn the flames off. Remember I am staying off site this year.

Sarah

Hi Sarah,
There's probably some confusion in your neighborhood because Disney used to allow pool hopping, but they stopped it about 12 years ago or so. So, if some people haven't been there in a while they might be remembering the good old days.

As stated it is not allowed unless you are staying at a DVC, or your resort pool is in rehab. You can use siste pools as in AllStars...Sarah asked a question because of a discussion she was having off the boards with people and wanted to get a definite answer.
