Has anyone done the Deep water swim, where they push you across the lagoon?
It states you must be able to swim.
How much do you "swim" ....in deep water? I can swim, but not well.

Any guidance would be great :)

Do they say must be able to swim to scare off kids who dont swim well?? or is it a major deal breaker?

My husband & daughter did it when we stayed there last year. They are both good swimmers, but I don't think you really have to be. You have a life jacket on, and it's not really "swimming". They really liked it. We've done the shallow water & the sea lion swim too. The snorkeling in the Ruins is fun too.

My DH and I did the deep water swim a couple of years ago. He is not a good swimmer and said he was very uncomfortable with the swimming so he stayed near the wall during the "deep" part. The portion where the dolphins push you isn't really deep at all. In fact, I think you can touch the bottom for most of that section.

They give you this powered fan thing that helps you dive under the water to follow the dolphins around and that is the part he wasn't comfortable with. He loved the rest and you do have a life jacket on the whole time. And no one made fun or even mentioned that he sat out the deeper portion. He did try that part, but after his first attempt he just moved to the side.

Hope this helps!

You might want to look in the dolphin swims at the Blue Lagoon, too. I know a lot of people say that one is better.

I looked into the Blue Lagoon... But it looked like a much long boat ride ( vs the short bus ride to Atlantis). I was worried about getting motion sick.

Another vote for Blue Lagoon dolphin swim. It is cheaper and my daughter loved it. Everyone gets a life jacket. The boat ride over was great I think because it was longer. You go by some very nice homes, mansions.

Darn....now I am second guessing my Atlansis day.....but my kids really want to do the water park.

anybody done this recently? Just wondering how it is. I was originally planning to do the swim at Blue Lagoon but now my parents are coming with us and want to to go to the Atlantis casino so I figure we'll do the dolphin swim while they are gambling, then we can meet up and spend the rest of the day at Atlantis.

I did it in July.
The dolphin portion was awesome.
We also paid to spend the day at the water park.....that was horrible!
Crazy busy! Five cruise ships were docked...and it felt like everyone on board was there!
No place to sit. No clear understanding on how to even access the rides. Long wait times! My kids rode only 2 water slides and the lazy river once.

Yeah, we won't do the water park, we did that last time. We'll just walk around the aquarium, have lunch, etc.
