Have you cruised in late March before?

We are considering booking a cruise for late March of next year (2005). I have NEVER been on a cruise of any kind before, and I have a rather dumb question, I'm afraid. My DS is definitely going to want to snorkle and spend time on water sports. How is the water temperature / weather in late March? We live in Alabama, and, though the weather is usually beautiful in late March, we wouldn't want to spend any time in the water. I know Nassau, etc., are a good deal south of here, though. Anyone?

Thanks for being patient with me ;)

Julie

I have not been to Nassau, but for 2 yrs I have cruised to Cozumel and snorkled there. The water was a bit chilly at first, but once you got in it was very nice and refreshing. The days were warm enough for shorts and sleeveless tops and we worked up a sweat while shopping. Not sure if this helps, but I bet it is warm in Nassau too. I'll post when I get back..I am cruising there from March 21-25 this yr. Melissa

Sorry I can't help with any of your ?'s I just wanted to say if you are going to book that date hurry up and do it. We booked for April 2005 and the price for 3 in a cat 10 already went up $200 since I booked in December. I also noticed a feb 2005 sailing we were looking at went up$400 since then. HURRY! HURRY! :D :Pinkbounc

We have only cruised in March due to spring break and the weather has been very cooperative. Since we are from frigid Illinois, the water feels good to us!!! Last year it rained a bit on the first day and a bit at Nassau but didn't stop us. Weather was in the mid 70's/early 80's each day on our past 3 cruises. HOpe that helps.

 Hello,
We were on the Magic last March 22, 2003 and the weather could'nt have been any better. It was beautiful, and definitely snorkleing weather. We are planning on going next year, on March 12, 2005, come go with us!!

March is one of the best months to cruise as far as weather. It is not yet hurricane season, yet it is getting into the warmer months (not that it is cold, it's very pleasant most times of the year in the caribbean). BUT, the bahamas are farther north than the other caribbean destinations, SO, bo aware that the water temps could be cool in the Bahamas. If you decide to do the Magic eastern or western, you should have great - dare I predict perfect - weather for cruising. I'm going this Month!!! March is my first choice for cruising with April and May in a close second and third.

We are also going in late March and being from IL I'm sure the weather will be great! Are you going on the 4 day or the seven day trip? We will be on the 4day trip

The average daily high air temperature in Nassau in late March is 80F, the low is 64F. March water temperatures generally range from 73F-77F; not bath water, but not freezing.

We will be going at the end of March! Will let you know. I'm hoping the weather will be nice! It's our very first cruise ever, so I'm just excited about that! And being on DCL, it's double the pleasure! And if Mother Nature decides to cooperate & gives us "perfect" weather, then I won't have anything to complain about!!!!!! :wave2:
