A friend of mine and her family want to visit WDW for the first time this coming October.

She's wondering about the weather. They'd like to visit a water park, is it really cold this time of year?

What has been your experience?

Thanks alot :D

October is perfect! We've been three times at that time of year. The days are warm-hot and the nights are cool. Swimming/water parks are definately do-able.

I'd always go in Oct, but I don't like pulling my kids out of school so early in the year!

Dittos - it got very warm during the day in October, but the nights were sweater-weather cool. It was heavenly. We also missed the rains of the summer, too.

The Food and Wine Festival also runs during some of the month, plus Mickeys' Not So Scary Halloween Party, which is loads of fun to do. There's so much going on, it's hard *not* to have a good time.

We went this past Oct 13-18 and we had a great time!! The first couple of days it was very nice weather - a little warm but not unbearable! But the second half of the trip, it got really cool, even during the day! It was too cool for us to swim!!

We've been a few times in early December too, and sometimes its really nice, and other times, its cold!!

October is a great time to visit though - crowds aren't bad at all! And we really enjoyed MNSSHP (although I have to say, I prefer MVMCP!!)

Enjoy!!!

October and May are my 2 favorite times to visit WDW. Great weather!

thanks everybody, this is great...I'm going to print this out for her eventually....so keep all comments coming :D thanks a bunch!

We were there last year from Oct. 18th to Oct. 25th and the weather could not have been more beautiful. It was warm enough to swim but not so hot that you were dying in the parks. We've been in November and we never saw the sun and the pools were freezing.

I've read that the parks close by 6pm in Oct/Nov. Can ayone tell me if it's true?

We'll be there 30 Oct - 13 Nov.

Thanks all! You're all so wonderful with information.

Can I chime in too????

I'd love to know how the crowds are on/around Columbus Day. The kids have 3 1/2 days off from school that week, so it would be perfect timing. I'm hoping the crowds thin towards the end of the week.

Thanks! I hear October is a wonderful time to go.

MickeyHereWeCome - We arrived last year on Columbus Day. I was a little concerned about crowds too, but it was GREAT!!! We had a wonderful time - and walked on to almost everything!! It was just me, DH and my youngest DD (she doesn't like any of the "mountain" rides, so we didn't ride any of those).

She had a great time at Animal Kingdom in the petting zoo. And it was not crowded at all making her mask at Epcot!

She had a great time at MNSSHP - she dressed up like Princess Aurora and actually got to meet her!!!

Enjoy your trip - its a great time to visit!

Thanks for letting me know about the crowds! It's nice to hear it sounds doable. I'd love to do the Halloween party!!! I just need to talk dh into doing another trip so soon.

We were there Oct 9-17th and it was wonderful... Ak closes at 6pm. Epcot is open till 9pm MGM os open untill 7pm. The MK hours vary depending on MNSSHP. But some nights they closed at 6pm, 8pm, or 11pm. It is a great time of year to go. it was our first trip and we had a wonderful time!

I also highly reccommed the MNSSHP. it is an extra cost, but well worth it. You have a special parade, the kids can get candy and everyone dresses up even the adults.. . There are usually not a lot of people... We did go before it started and there were less people than later on in the night.. Also the closer to the 31st that you go the more crowded it is. i think we went on the 14th of October..

Have fun and enjoy the weather.. we didn't need a coat or anything.. we even had to buy the personal fans...
