Have you all started getting your pumpkins yet?

I actually thought about getting some real pumpkins this year but they're just too expensive. I don't have any desire to carve one. I would just set it on the porch for looks and $8-$10 is too much for something that will just sit around until it rots and then be thrown away.

aunt has a pumpkin patch on the farm. she brought us 47 (mostly smaller) ones last week. We have 6 big ones that we will carve the week of Halloween. Otherwise the kids will start painting the others soon. House looks funny the sidewalk path is lined with pumpkins. oh well neighbors probably think we're crazy but the kids had a blast unloading them.

MIL gave us pumpkins she grew last year. When they were rotten I took them out past the driveway and threw them in the ditch across the road (we're in the country). A few weeks ago I noticed pumpkin blossoms in the ditch among the grasses and weeds. We investigated and now have 6 pumpkins for the porch steps.

I think that I will do it again this year! The ditch is a great place for growing pumpkins- don't need to weed or worry about vines spreading all over the yard

...pumpkin seeds will grow jes' 'bout anywhere....if you look at my 1st and 2nd pix, you will notice there is a hug vine growing under the bench...

Well our local grocery store had pumpkins for $1 this past weekend, so we did get 4 pumpkins! I felt I had to because I told DD10 that if I found pumpkins for $1 I'd get some, well there they were so I got them. So now we are wondering if they are going to carve all 4 or not.

Anyone here dry and/or roast their seeds? I'll probably scoop them out just before I get ready to toss the pumpkin in a few weeks..

they are just determined and patient. I have over 50 stencils to use that I have found in different places on the internet and they all picked their own.

No but I was thinking I might do this this year. So I'll be looking for recipes.
