Have to pay for breadsticks at Le Cellier?

I just got back from WDW, and I was really surprised by my Le Cellier experience. I usually get the cheese soup, a beer and munch on the breadsticks. Our server said that unless you get an entree, you have to pay for the breadsticks. I asked her when this change was made, and she said it's been this way for several years. Since I had NEVER been charged for breadsticks before and have been to Le Celllier quite a few times in the past few years, I questioned her about it. She said that we must have gotten servers that didn't charge us. She told me it would be $3.59, and we really wanted the breadsticks so we ordered them. When the bill came I noticed we were charged $4.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I've always ordered entree's so I guess the breadsticks were free but it sounds in line with most restaurants. You must have had a server who doesn't like to break the rules/or get tips!

I have no experience with this, but my 2 cents.
I feel like the breadsticks should come with the soup (At least 1).

If you want extra breadsticks then I can see them charging.

Seems a little ridiculous, but they don't want people tying up a table and only getting soup and filling up on breadsticks. No offense, but I can see their point, and I am rarely on the side of Disney.

Guess you got lucky in the past. Maybe they had delivered the breadsticks to your table before you ordered in the past.

I don't have a problem with them charging for the breadsticks given that I only got soup. I was just surprised that the server said it this had been in effect for years when I had never experienced it. I was a little annoyed that I was told one price and charged a higher price, but given that it wasn't a big difference, I didn't say anything to the server about it.
