Boo hoo! My DH says the trip is too expensive, I originally wanted POFQ because it seems lush and quiet. Soooo...which value would be a good option for me, DH and DH-9. Which value would be the closest to being peaceful and least crowded?

well I dont think ant of the values are peaceful and quite :teeth: .We always stay at Pop the first 2 nights before we switch to our DVC resort. We have stayed at ASMovies and we liked it too,But we just Love POP.

I've never stayed at a value, but my son and his wife just got back from Pop and loved it. He has stayed in deluxe and moderates with us, but said he'd rather stay at Pop again the next time they go (of course he's spending HIS money now and not our's... ;) ) Also, Pop is the newest value and the food court is supposed to be real nice. If my husband ever starts asking me the price of our vacations, I may be going to values from now on... :rolleyes1

There seem to be some areas of Pop that are more quiet than others - out back facing the Generation Gap Bridge, for instance. You'll be farther out but it will be nice if quiet is what you like. Look at a PC map and you'll see the areas I mean. You can also ask at check in to be put in a quiet area and I'm sure they'll be happy to oblige. :wizard:

This was a good thread on Pop today: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=935265&referrerid=70088

LOL! Well, my DH takes care of all our financials plus we're going on a multi destination trip. I'm still trying to look at other options.

We stayed at Pop and really liked it. I would suggest the 50's building on one of the higher floors if you are lloking for a more quiet setting.

I am 55 year old and travel several times a year. I often stay at 4 star hotels.
So the deluxe resorts do not have anything special for me.
All Star is like being in the heart of the MAGIC and that is where I want to be.

All Star Music is my faveroite. It is quieter because more couples stay there.I love the Clypso builing it is closer to the pool, food court and bus stop.

Here is a site with a map of All Star Sports and All Star Music.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/allstarmap.htm
Scroll down. All Star Music is at the bottom of the page.
The Calypso buildings at All Star Music are #1 and #10 are nearest to the food court and bus stop.
They are the preferred buildings and cost about $12 extra per night.
The Calypso pool at ASMU has Donald Duck.

Bus rides are shorter from the ALL Stars than POP according to PassPorter.com

All Star Buses---Pop buses----Contempory
MK 20 min-----MK 25 min-------20 min (mono)
Epcot 10 min----Epcot 20 min------15 min
MGM 10 min-----MGM 15 min-------20 min
AK 10 min------AK 15 min-----------20 min
DTD 15 min-----DTD 20 min---------35

The All Star resorts have 1960 rooms each.
Pop has 2,880rooms.
That means more people in the pools, food court and in line waiting for the bus at POP.
When phase 2 of POP is built it will be 2 bus stops at POP and the 2 POPs will have the same # of rooms as the 3 All Stars.

Also All Star is closer to the main road to get to parks and thats why bus rides are shorter from there than from POP.

A WORD ABOUT BUS SHARING:

It is usually just our stop and maybe one more on the way to the parks. On the way back sometimes its all 3 but often Sports and Music share and Movies has it's own bus back.

I guess some people who stay at POP see all 3 All Star names on the return sign of our bus stop when they head to the POP bus stop and think All Stars also has 3 stops on the way to the park.
(Even when we stop at another AS resort to load up it has not taken more than 5 minutes and we are on our way!)

I love the All Star Resorts --they can't be beat. I have visited WDW more than a dozen times with the 1st time in Oct. 1971. It was brand new. I've stayed at FW, Disney Inn, a few the of Hotels on hotel Blvd., CBR and the towers at the Contemporary. I got to see the MK from my balcony at the Contemporary and I'm happy I got to experience it once. I just prefer the All Star Resorts.
The theaming is pure Disney.
My last 5 visits have been at The All Stars and this fall when we took dd,dsil, and our grandson age 3 we stayed at the All Stars Music. I thought about AKL and even though we can well afford AKL I just wanted Alex to experience the Disney Magic :wizard: at the All Stars on his first visit.
Where else can one find Donald Duck or Mickey Mouse at the pool?
We stayed 8 nights and had a great time.
Have a wonderful time at Disney!
Linda

I'd also go with POP asking for the 50s or 70s buildings, top floor, close to stairs (away from elevators and foot traffic). I was there in May and had a third floor corner room in the 50's facing the courtyard. I was only a few minutes from Everything POP, could stand outside my room and see both the pools in the 50s and in the 60s, but was far enough away I never heard any noise. In Sept I was on the fourth floor in the 70's facing the lake. It was also quiet and not too far from Everything POP or the buses. I really think I preferred the back of the 70's facing the lake.

FYI- In May I did a split stay at POP and BWV. I was closer to the buses at POP, than I was at Boardwalk villas. In Jan I did a split stay at WL and AKL. I loved both, but the noisest stay I ever had was at AKL. We had the kid from hades next door screaming constantly with his parents apparently encouraging him, every morning and night. He would run down the hall screaming and pounding on everyone's door, with his parents laughing at him. Anyway what I'm trying to say is: quietness will depend on your neighbors whichever resort you choose.

I would go with the Pop Century and request a room on the top (4th) floor.
I second that. If you pay for the prefered room you will still be close to the pool/food court/busses but upstairs in the back it is very quiet. We did this on 9/22-9/25 and were very happy with POP.

Last year we stayed at ASSP, our boys loved the sports stuff! Next time if staying at a value, we would have no problem staying there again !! :flower:

AmyG, We stayed at French Quarters last Nov and we liked it the best part was that the pool has a slide and that you can take these super cute little boats from the resort to Downown Disney. That was my fave part I loved taken the little boast ride so relaxing (and you don't have to stress about finding a parking @ Downtown Disney). Aside from that we love :rotfl: :Pinkbounc :bounce: the the value resorts, our fave so far has been Pop Century hands down We are staying @ All Star Music next month and I hope that it's at least half as exciting and beautiful as Pop century. We also stayed at All Stars sports in May and liked that resort also but not as much as Pop. Also the CM @ the value resorts we have stayed at offer 100% better service then when we stayed at French Quarters. Hope this helps!!

We just enjoyed a week's stay at All Star Sports. My sons are ages 16 and 12. I was impressed. A room is a room to me- didn't spend to much time in it anyways- only to sleep. I would stay there again but next year we are taking 5 people on our trip so will be staying at POR.

I used to be very leary about the value resorts, but we loved our recent trip to the ASMu. We had connecting rooms on the 3rd floor of Building 9 (Jazz), on the parking lot side. We never heard any noise at all, except the distant sound of tiolets flushing now and then. There was a nice shady playground just outside, and we were equally close to the Calypso pool and the Piano pool (quiet pool). The landscaping was lush and beautiful. The food court was close and convenient for everyone to get what they wanted to eat, and the parking was close enough to get us to the car when we wanted to go elsewhere (we did not use the buses much at all). We also loved the gift shop and arcade (well, the kids loved it).

We loved the ASMu so much that we came back and cancelled our reservations at WL for Christmas and booked two rooms at Pop Century instead! I hope we like Pop as much as we liked the ASMu.

Have a great trip!

We have stayed at Allstar Movies and though our room was quiet enough, I wouldn't have described the resort as quiet and "lush". FQ is a completely different feeling.

At ASMo the food court was a mad house at times along with the pool. But this makes sense because the values are the ones that are most affordable for families............I mean, that's why we were there. ;)

I'm sure you would have a fine time at one of the values, but "lush and quiet" would not be words to describe them. :teeth:

Of the Value Resorts, we've stayed at ASSp and ASMu. While we didn't have any issues with ASMu, we prefer ASSp.

Pop, 50's bldg. top floor. We had to downgrade too at the last minute from the Swan and we enjoyed our stay here. It wasn't the same, but nice, none the less. :cool1:
