Have to decide quickly! FWCabin or BWI

I have to decide right away between Fort Wilderness Cabin and Boardwalk Inn. We will have been there for a week staying first at AKL standard view and then at Wilderness Lodge Villas.

I have never stayed at the cabins, but have stayed at BWI, and love it there. I am not sure whether to try something new that is very far away from everything, or stay with the tried and true. The rate is almost the same, maybe 15 dollars more per night at BWI. Our annual passes expire a day before we leave, so there will be one and a half days to figure out something else to do besides parks. It will be dd 6 and me. What do you think?

Has anyone ever stayed at cabins? Was it too far from everything?

I vote for BWI.
We stayed at the cabins and we were not all that impressed. They are great if you need the room and they are in your price range. We added days and we got a great rate to stay there b/c WL was full. We were near a bus pick-up and heard the bus brakes all night. Plus the bus system from FW can be long and complicated. If you think you would participate in all FW has to offer, (ie, BBq, campfire, petting zoo, etc.) then it might be worth giving it a try.Otherwise, I would probably stay with the tried and true.

Thanks for the reply. I absolutely hate hearing the bus brakes. Stayed at OKW in a corner building next to a stop sign. It was awful. Heard that bus 24 hours per day. I spend a lot of time in the room, and on the balcony. I don't want to hear busses. There is a ton to do at BWI, and I guess we can go to FW for a day and do all that stuff too.

I would go with BWI. The cabin was nice if you like the woods, but we go camping in the summer so when we go to Disney we like "paved resorts". Wherever you choose have fun!!!

Since I have never stayed at BW, I can only give feedback about FW, but my family loved it! It will really depend on what you want to do on those days. Our kids liked the vastness of the campground and that they could get on a bus and go around without leaving the grounds. They really enjoyed the campfire and movies at night and roasting marshmellows. With pools and playgrounds around there are many activities there.

I guess you will have to decide for yourself!! You now have opinions from others!!

We loved the FW cabins. If you don't want to hear the bus brakes just request a cabin a little further in the loop. We really enjoyed the being in the wilderness with Mk just a boat ride away. It is convenient to rent a golf cart to get around the grounds but we found the buses pretty accomodating and never waited more than 5 minutes for one.

But, since you're already going to be staying at the WLV I would go for the BWI only because it would give you the opportunity to stay in the Epcot resort area (which is my favorite area to stay in).

You can plan your Epcot and MGM visits for when you stay there and do some bike rides around the FW campground when you stay at the WLV if you're looking for a day to hang around the resort. The pools at WLV/WL are also nice.

Thank you for your replies. My most favorite thing to do at WDW is walk from BW into Epcot. Our annual passes end on Aug 2, but we don't fly out until Aug 4. I don't plan to buy passes for one day, so maybe that will be the day we do the FW Campground activities.
