Have they homogenized Boma's too much?

DH and I really liked Boma's when we last went there. A lot of comments seem to indicate the food has become more run of the mill, which I think is true of most WDW restaurants. Is it still worth going for dinner if we like it several years ago?

. . . yep, pretty much
. . . a little sweet due to spices, but still ordinary

Is it still worth going for dinner if we like it several years ago?
. . . in our opinion, absolutely not

NOTE: Boma is an outstanding buffet for breakfast.
For dinner it's below average and worth passing by.
African and Middle Eastern foods are typically spiced
with cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, cardamom, etc, which
can make food appear sweet to the taste buds. If doing
dinner, go for the soups, and leave the meats, the
salads, and the desserts for someone else. There now
are fifteen different soups at five per night. Bring out
the ear plugs, as it does get moisy

Well I think differently, the only thing I can complain about regarding Boma is the price, especially if you have kids that are 10.

The only obvious change I've seen over the years is they've taken away the prime rib and replaced it with roast beef but this is true of every Disney buffet.

I've always found the food at Boma to be fresh, hot and with quite an array to choose from. If the the one dining wants just steak and potatoes or chicken nuggets and fries then sure pass on by! But we still enjoy the many soups Carrot and tomato in particular), the many salads (watermelon rind, spinach & beet, cucumber and curry )and dressings (cilantro), the array of vegetables and cous-cous/saffron rice as well as regional favorites like boboti, the spiced rub chicken. I think of all of the Disney buffets Boma reigns supreme in freshness and imagination!

Noisy, sure but no more than Le Cellier at 5:30pm or any other popular Disney restaurant!

i was kinda leary of eating at boma..i'm not a brave eater at all. we went about 2 months ago and i found what i liked i liked alot! the soups were really good, some of the side dishes very yummy. the atmoshpere was really cool. i would do it again only on the dining plan, for it is very pricey out of pocket.

For several years, I keep hearing "Boma has gone down hill". And every time we go back, our immediate reaction is "nope, still our favorite restaurant in the northern hemisphere".

They could double the price and we would continue to dine there.

We love Boma dinner - it is a must do for us every trip. Everyone (even my picky DD) can find plenty of interesting things to eat. We don't think it has gone downhill at all.

Shamrock30-

Everyone's got their opinions. Some people love Boma, others hate it. I've read tons of reviews and opinions on Boma and do you know what? Me, my wife and two boys will be there for dinner on 12/2. I can't to try it and formulate my own opinion.

We eat breakfast or dinner at Boma every trip. The omelets they make are wonderful in my opinion, and the selection of food is huge. I'm also a fan of their orange juice. Weird, but I can't drink enough of it.

With that said, some like it, some don't. We love it.

DH and I are lovers of Boma! In fact we will be eating dinner and breakfast there on our upcoming trip. When we were trying to pick our last ADR, DH said how about Boma again! We thought about it but decided to stick with just two times and try something new, but that is saying a lot as my DH is very picky.

I agree with the bolded part. It clearly isn't authentic African cuisine but Boma does provide a different spin on their food compared to the other Disney restaurants. It is always fresh with plenty of options to choose from so that everyone should be able to find something they want to eat.

If a person wants something better than that, it is time for him/her to dine at the signature restaurants.

We went to Boma for the first time in May and all 5 people in our party - 3 adults, 2 kids - loved it! I found it to be anything but boring and run of the mill

I was there a year ago for the Food & Wine fest and we paid OOP for Boma. DH had 1 drink and for 2 adults after tax and tip we had spent almost $90. For 2 people!:scared1: OOP for me is not worth it, but I will say we enjoyed everything we tried (I wasn't too sure about the watermelon rind salad, I might try it again but it was the texture I didn't care for) A lot of the dishes were new to us even though it was roast beef or chicken it was prepared with different tastes from the spices they use. Yes everything did have a sweet taste which was odd because we weren't expecting our meat to be sweet, but it all seemed to go together well and we enjoyed our meal. I am going back this trip with Mom and letting Disney pick up the tab as we got free dining. No I wouldn't pay OOP, but if Disney is paying, I'm dining!

Ditto. We eat there on every trip, and just did so yesterday, and once again it did not disappoint!

Boma dinner was probably my favorite meal of my trip. Even compared to La Cellier and Ohana. Fresh food, everything just a little bit different. If Boma has a weak spot it's the desert. I thought the zebra domes were only okay.

agreed. i only had one bite of mine and gave the rest to my husband.

With the loss of prime rib and the potatoes with Afri-tude my group has lost a lot of interest in Boma. I'll agree that the soups are really good and I enjoy the bobotie and some of the other dishes. I only eat dessert at WDW, so what they offer tastes pretty darned good to me.:earsboy:
