Have the Menus been reduced, due to free dinning?

:confused3 Has anyone seen the menus since the free dining started? I've heard the choices are greatly reduced for the TS. Lets hope not. Any info would be wonderful. Thanks Tina

Check out our sticky thread for a look at the menus. I'm pretty sure that they remain pretty much the same. For example, a place like Jiko hasn't changed at all due to free dining.

For the two times they've offered it, free dining is only available for a short period each year. For the other eleven months of the year, the dining plan isn't free. To my knowledge, the restaurants don't change their menus for the few weeks when it is.

As the Disney Dining Plan has matured, a limited number of restaurants have excluded some menu items from the plan. At Teppanyaki, for example, the sushi section of the menu is not available on the DDP. At Spoodles, the large dessert sampler platter is not available to DDP guests. Instead of excluding things from the plan, some restaurants have surcharges for certain entrees when they're ordered on the DDP. This is the case at Wolfgang Puck Cafe and Planet Hollywood. If you scroll through some of the posts in the DDP section of the DIS forums, you'll come across reports from others on what they were and were not able to order on the Dining Plan.

All in all, though, don't panic. Considering the number of restaurants on the plan and the number of items featured on each of their menus, the exclusions represent a very, very small percentage of what's available. On both of our trips using the DDP we were always very well fed and never felt like we were being treated as second class guests.

Make your ADRs early. That's one thing that will definitely change during the weeks of free dining -- the ability to get a table where you want, when you want.

The menus seemed the same to me as what was posted on Allears even months ago. I did not notice any differences. Our "free dining" experience was Aug 13 - Aug 17.

Thanks everyone for the replys. I had read a trip report and the person was saying the menu's were reduced to four entrees in quite a few restaurants. I've never experienced the free dinning. But love eating  at the restaurants. :woohoo: I would have been quite disapointed if the menus had changed. Thanks Tina
