Have malls stopped doing Halloween celebrations now?

Every Halloween it used to be that malls would do Halloween celebrations and kids used to go trick-or-treating through the mall but now I've noticed that now some malls are now paying you to have your kids trick-or-treat through the mall and participating in the Halloween activities that the malls offer and it's shocking to me that they are now doing this to people with kids who want to dress up and trick-or treat through the mall. Because it used to be that Halloween activities at malls were always free but now if you go to the mall they have ruined the fun of the Halloween actitivies by having new things like Halloween photos like Santa photos during the holidays and charging you money for Halloween cookies and popcorn which used to be free. My mall used to have trick-or treating for free but if you do it now the stores always run out of candy and instead give kids stickers and food coupons. So my family went to another mall and that mall gave out free popcorn and Halloween cookies but when it came to trick-or treating the stores would run out of candy and would always have lines. But I think this new trend with Halloween and malls will last a long time
Has anyone noticed this Halloween trend at your malls every Halloween?

Sounds like a good deal if the malls are paying you to do these things.

I think she may have meant charging you. Yeah, I can remember trick-or-treating through malls - the stores would give out candy. This was in the 80's mind you. I don't think I've seen that done for a long time around here.

Meanwhile the mall closest to me has completely moved onto Christmas....

Yeah, that's what I see more of. Christmas goes up very early. Halloween has been making inroads though and seems more popular than ever as a retail holiday. Still, nobody challenges the almighty Christmas!

What mall pays you to have your kids trick or treat?? I want to go to that mall!!!!

Wow! I've never seen a mall that does anything like this at Halloween. I do know that trunk-or-treat has become the go-to method for families with younger children that don't want to go door to door, but we still see lots of traditional house-to-house trick-or-treating in our neighborhood.

I have seen some of this in my area, just not at malls. A Cabela's store not too far away has in-store Halloween activities coming up. (The store is huge, so it's almost like a mall anyway.) I think it takes more research than in the past to find this kind of thing, and it's less likely to be at a mall, but it's still around.

I’ve seen malls do the “safe” trick or treating but not really decorate or have other events/celebrations

I live in the mall capitol of the world, I never heard of TOT in them. Our town has several trunk or treats leading up to Halloween, but on the day kids go door to door (we are 3 houses away from a very popular TOT street, residents give out over 1000 pieces of candy).
