All the reviews seem "meh" for this place but I need reservations for 6 adults and 2 infants so chances of switching is pretty bleak, right? Anybody like the food here?

Thanks,
Amy

We love H and V. Been there many times- never had a bad meal.We are not picky eaters but there are things we don't like but never here.

We have eaten at the H&V twice and, while I wouldn't say that it was my favorite restaurant, never had any issue with finding something that was good (not necessarily great but good) for everyone in our group.

Typical Everyday normal American Food...no frills, nothing fancy, but still good. It was a pleasant surprise to us on our last trip when we couldn't get in at 50's Prime Time. I say go for it! :thumbsup2

I know you don't want to hear this - but we thought it was awful. If you really can't get another res somewhere else - I'd suggest Pizzeria Uno off property or even Earl of Sandwich downtown......anything else would be more enjoyable, for the $$. Just my 2 cents.......

I've eaten there several times and always found multiple items that were delicious!

That being said, I had a lunch reservation there for my upcoming trip and found it is a character lunch with Playhouse Disney. Traveling solo, no kids so decided lunch with JoJo and friends would be a bit 'much.'

I understand posts saying we are picky eaters I guess, but I am not one.

There are very few restaurants that everyone can agree on as being good or bad in Disney.

It's really subjective.
I do not like many of the places in Disney anymore, others rave about them.
For many people just the experience of Disney will make it a positive experience even if the food is average.

In the end its all down to personal preference.
If you like the menu and do not go in expecting the greatest meal ever you will be fine.

Also keep in mind people are far more likely to post a bad review then a good.

I tend to look for someone I know that I agree with based on their previous reviews, comments and preferences and take the rest with a grain of salt.

We like Hollyowood and Vine for our kids. It is a good buffet where they can find a lot of things they like. Although we eat at other more adventurous places during our trip, it is nice to eat at HV where they recognize all of the food and see a lot of favorites.

We did it twice and wish we'd stopped after one...we will never go back. That being said, everyone has different tastes, expectations and experiences. People raved about WCC and we went and hated it and won't go back there ever again either. People constantly tear apart Mama Melrose and we've never had a bad meal there. Try it for yourself...and then you can decided whether it is worth going back again or not.

We went there on our trip last year. The food was OK. Nothing special. What we really disliked was the loud, loud, loud atmosphere in the whole place. You practically had to yell at the person next to you to be heard over the noise in the place. Not what I call a relaxed atmosphere. ::MinnieMo

babies would love the breakfast, i just did that last week (for the food, lol)
we did dinner on our first trip. the pot roast and desserts were good. it was ok, nothing great though, would much rather 50s or Sci-Fi. :rolleyes1

It's a very favorite of my DH. I think it is fine and my kids really like it (but they like all buffets!)

I do not know 100% but have been under the suspicion that a lot of the nay sayers on different buffets might be people who do not enjoy the buffet experience regardless. I am not picking on them. Sometimes its just better to sit and wait for your food to appear. We all get it. There are days when I feel like that too. Lets all be honest you are hot and sweaty from the park. The last thing you want is to get up and serve yourself.

With all that said if you like the menu then go. It is all you can eat which is a huge plus. Oh and make every trip up worth the energy you exert.

I'm one of those who hates H&V. But I do I love buffets....if the food and the service is good. But we've had two really bad experiences at H&V. I also told OP she should try it if it appeals to her as we all have different tastes, expectations and experiences. People hate Mama Melrose...but we enjoy it immensely.

Here is my review:

Hollywood & Vine
My sister and I call this place, "The Stinky Rag"

Pros:
Decent Service
Quick Seating

Cons:
Smelly Restaurant
Limited Food Choices
Buffet food is taken up 30 minutes before restaurant closes

This was my second visit to Hollywood and Vine and honestly, it will probably be my last.

We were seated very quickly, immediately as a matter of fact.

Each time I visit H&V, I notice that the entire place smells like an old mop or mildewed rag. I am not sure if that is how diners smelled in the 50s, and this is a "piped in scent" but if they did, I feel sorry for the people that ate at them.

For the length of the buffet, there are not really a lot of choices. All of the cold salads are made with the same flavors. Everything is oil, vinegar and a blend of garlic, onions and oregano. All of the meats are either very bland or have such a strong foreign flavor that you are unable to determine what you are eating.

I did enjoy the mashed potatoes, prime rib and the tomatoe & mozzarella. The rolls were so hard I could have knocked my waitress out with one. The dessert buffet is okay, but I am scared to eat anything off of it because it is so open. I see kids helping themselves to the desserts with their hands instead of using tongs.

Our waitress was good. She has been working there since it opened and was very sweet. She had our drinks out very quickly and refilled our tea each time before we were even down to 1/4 of a glass.

About 30 minutes before closing, they started picking up all the food. They closed half of the buffet and the other half was out of most of the foods. I guess in the future when I go to a buffet I will not go any less than 2 hours before closing. Though our waitress was nice, I felt like they were pushing us out the door.

Overall I give Hollywood & Vine a C.

We love buffets, but not H&Vine. while we think it's great for breakfast... not for dinner.
We did the Fantasmic package for dinner last spring -4 adults and 5 kids. Kids, eh, they did okay. Adults... we all found something to eat, but all agreed we were NOT impressed. Just some odd offerings they have there it seems. And felt bad because two of the adults with us weren't on the dining plan and was a lot of money for them to pay for a lousy meal.

We had dinner there on our last visit and really enjoyed it. The food was very good. There's something for everyone.

I asked this same question on another thread. The reviews are mixed. I decided to give it a shot and hope for the best. :goodvibes

Sorry but H&V is one place that I will never set foot in again...I would rather eat CS in HS than eat at H&V

We had a group of 7 and ate at H&V. I thought it was just okay, the service was very good, the food was decent. Several people in our group really liked it. There is really nothing special about the atmosphere (I think the smelly rag scent machine must have been not working that day, because I didn't notice it :rotfl:). There are tons of much more fun places to eat at WDW, but we left full and content. Must've been a good day! Don't worry too much about it. If you don't like it, you'll know for next time!
