Have I gone nuts?

I am considering working at the Disney Store, it is 40 minutes away! They get 30% off! Wonder if that would apply to disney dollars though? They are now owned by Childrens place. How do I explain this one??? Thought it would make sense to get trip $ from Disney store does this make any snese or have I gone nuts?

I say go for it. What a happy place to work! It seems that alot of the folks I talk to at the Disney Store are DVC members. Wonder if they got some kind of break on that?

i know a few years ago if you worked at the Disney Store you got trip discounts and special tours. i dunno how it works now since they're owned by someone else, but i'd say go for it! i've always wanted to work for them!

Would the low pay-rate compensate for your commute? My TDS is 10-15 minutes away and I worked there PT last holiday season for $6/hour. It was only a temp. job to earn a little extra money for Christmas shopping and to save towards the trip we took in June. The 30% discount applies to merchandise, DVD's & CD's are only 10% off. There is no discount on Disney Dollars/Gift Cards.

Doesn't sound worth it to commute 40 minutes to work for minimum wages ~ even when Mickey is involved.

It's up to you, and I enjoy working at my store where I have been for several years, but don't expect any breaks when going to the parks. We get no discount anymore. We do get 3 one-day passes a year, but if you don't redeem them 30 days prior to your trip, you lose them. I forgot to get mine, so I've lost them for the year.

But it still is fun to work at the store!

If it makes you happy, go for it. I live 2 hours away from the Disneyland Resort, and I would gladly travel that far if my wife would let me.

Thanks all for the great feedback! I do not live near much and am wondering the same with 4 wd and the price of gas. So there is no benefit in the way of travel perks really then ? Was not sure!

Maybe price will drop on gas and will make it possible , you gave me much to consider thanks all and for those that do work there so no travel discounts other than the park tickets?
