Our trip is on USAir in October. I got E-tickets. Will it make check-in any easier (quicker) with a paper ticket?

Since I usually get paper in case of a cancelled flight, I would recommend paper, but my understanding is that as long as you have a printout copy of your E-ticket, you will be ok. The key is to have something in writing, whether it is computer printout of your E-ticket reservation or a real ticket.

PS. I just looked at expedia.com today and they had a $10.95 shipping and handling charge for paper tickets on the site. I have never paid more for paper tickets before and wonder if this is because suddenly everyone wants a paper ticket due to the uncertain nation of air flight these days.

Since you have to stand in line to get your luggage checked and your boarding pass before you can go to the gate, I don't think there is a real advantage to getting a paper ticket early.

Some airlines and websites starting charging for paper tickets a few months ago, so it has nothing to do with last week. I guess they wanted to encourage e-tickets to reduce extra costs for printing paper tickets. There is a disadvantage to paper tickets - there's a hefty charge to replace them if they are lost.
