I'm just curious, Have you or do you know of any CP's who did the program, and reapplied later on (by like- a couple yrs later) and did not get accepted? I have a clean record and did my job well so don't see why I wouldn't, but I'd like to know the ratio!! :)

I reapplied but I had selftermed and hadn't waited the 6 months required before reapplying, so I was denied.

However my room mate reapplied and is there right now. He only waited about 9 months before he went back and he was a restricted rehire. So if your record is clean you shouldn't have to much of a problem getting in!

Cool! Thanks :) I'm debating emailing my manager, But I don't think she can do much for me...She does have a lot of connections though! :)

..And what is a "restricted rehire" exactly? You have so many reprimands or something?

Yes restricted can be given for a number of reasons based on reprimands as well as leaving early. But normally it's one of those things where Disney wants to know you've changed and will be a better cast member this time around. If you demonstrate that in your interview it's normally not terribly difficult to get overturned.

I know a few restricted rehires that got denied. And a few alum posted on the Facebook group so its definitely possible. The only advice I have is I prepared for my phone interview the same way I did last time, had a basics story, negative guest situation that I resolved and made everyone happy, and magical moment story ready. And of course why I wanted to do the program again. The key is to sound confident but NOT cocky.

Gave this pep talk to my roommate before his phone interview and we both got accepted again right away.

Here are a few scenarios I could think of
  • Having the "I did this before so, of course, I'll get this again" mentality. I would think being arrogant or cocky would turn the interviewer off (this is quite different than being confident).
  • they checked the record card and saw a lot of call-ins, points, etc. Person didn't bother going to work the first time, why risk it again?
  • restricted/no rehire and didn't do well enough during the interview to warrant them having someone complete the rehire paperwork.

Your former manager really wouldn't be able to do anything. Decision was made by the group you interviewed with.

The second scenario couldn't be more wrong. Disney is very open with past employees. Now your 3rd one on the other hand is right you do have to show them that you've changed and will right whatever you have done wrong. Which is why the ask that you work at one place for 6 months (about the length of the program) and call to ask them how you worked.

I highly doubt Disney goes with the "why risk it" attitude if that were the case why turn over anyone's rehire status and just hire only new faces. I mean it's a common known thing that a lot of times if a year or 2 has gone by the recruiter won't even mention the restricted rehire.

Now a "No rehire" status is a whole other monster.

My daughter did Spring 2011. She applied for Spring 2012 and didn't hear for a VERY long time. A friend of hers who did Spring 2011 didn't hear for a very long time and ended up not being accepted. She did not have a restricted status. She has applied for Fall 2012 and heard very quickly and got her first choice of a position.

I honestly believe there was a problem with the system last fall.

I am an alumn from 2009/2010(I extended my first program) and got rejected this time after being pended for almost two months. It ended up being for the best as my husband and I are moving to be closer to our parents. I know a lot of alumni who got rejected, and even some who are currently seasonal who got rejected. Who knows the reason, but I like to think that it's just cuz it wasn't meant to be. :)

I know alumni who applied for later programs, and were not accepted

I know of a few were not accepted a second time around. It could be any number of reasons, honestly: bad record card, restricted rehire status, had a bad interview (or was too cocky during the interview), or picked only very limited roles. I have a friend who did the program in Spring 2011 with me and was pended for over a month for the Fall 2012 season because she was very picky with what roles she requested, as well as what locations she specifically wanted for her roles. She did end up getting in for a role she wanted, but she had to wait awhile. On the other hand, I also have another friend who did the program in Spring 2011 with us who's there on his second program right now and he only said he'd do ONE role and somehow got accepted for that one role in 5 days. We were all kind of blown away.

It's just all very dependent on a lot of different factors and we may never really know why some people get accepted and why some get denied.

I did the program. Re applied for PI and got accepted. You have to figure there are a lot of alumni though and there just isn't room for everyone. I would have to imagine it is pretty common that former CP's aren't accepted everytime they re apply.

My sister (who did the program in 2005) knew one or two who didn't get rehired. I know it was a concern and she was worried she wouldn't be able to do it again (great record, just no room and then she graduated), so she's been CT ever since (seven years).

New Question! Is the application different if you're an alumni? Do they contact your direct manager instead of a regular employer?

Thanks!! :)

They might contact your former managers, but I'm not sure. I know they do, for sure, if you're applying for PIs.
