Have Any Cast Members Used DFTW?

DH and I are planning to have a VR for our 10 year anniversary in 2012. I'm starting the planning now, though I know it's too early to start calling DFTW. We will be traveling to WDW in January 2012 and may do the VR then or (depending on what the DCL cruise schedule is for 2012) may opt for a DCL VR later in the year.

DH is a Cast Member, so we're able to enjoy a number of discounts/perks, but I'm wondering how this would work with the wedding packages (ie, we already have silver passes, so the annual passes wouldn't be useful for us). I'm not expecting a huge discount, but normally we get discounts for disney photography (ie we did a family photo shoot at the GF earlier this year).

I've been reading through a lot of the wedding/VR reports and planning reports, but I haven't seen any from cast members. Can anyone give me some info from a CM perspective?

We are both Disney Store cast members and we got 10% off the floral and 10% off our dessert party, plus the normal cast member discount on the hotel.

As I understand it, Florida cast members get a discount on different things.

Oh good to know! So there will be some savings at least :)

DH works for ABC television in NY, so he's a Disney employee but not a park employee. Most of the benefits for us are the same as the park employees since he's been there for ten years, but not all of them.

I'm a CM at WDW and, yes, there are discounts. You still need to reach the same minimum (in our case, $10K for a morning Wishes) but we received discounts on floral, food, photography and entertainment.

Excellent! We're having a smaller affair (escape package for 10-20 people) so the minimum should be less. I'm sure we'll have no problem meeting it though.

Do you know if CMs are issued a credit for the annual passes because we don't need them? Those are worth like $1000 for two people!

Unfortunately not. There is no compensation for the fact that we don't need the annual passes. :sad1:

That would have been nice!

Yes, for an Escape you're looking at $4750 unless you want a dessert party then I believe it goes up to $7500.

We are both CMs and I can verify that we did not get APs, I was sad as we were going to give one to my mom and one to his dad. I would verify any discounts with DFTW as they could be different and technically as CMs we are not allowed to discuss them :thumbsup2

CM here too (both me and DH are). There are some great discounts, some just average.

And no.. no annual passes for us.. but its still awesome. DM me if you want more info and details :)

I will say... it is a huge advantage though being a castmember. You know what you're allowed to do and what you're not allowed to do. There are amazing advantages in knowing Disney.. mostly if you're having such few people. There's no guessing when it comes to figuring out what you want.
