Please jump in and stop me if this rate is doesn't seem 'normal' for this time of year! I have the room being held, but have to secure with credit card by 4 p.m. today (EST).

It's a 2Q standard view at RPR for 3 adults, 2 child. on July 12 (Sun). Rate is $232.90 plus $25 for a rollaway.

Does this seem reasonable?

Also, have to check about the smoking situation. Our son has asthma and a ton of allergies and can't be near it at all.

It's hard for me to pay that kind of rate when I could get a free room/parking at Holiday Inn, but I'm interested in the FOTL benefit since our time is limited.

Adding a question to my original post: Our whole family is into music, but our boys (18, 14) both play (guitar, bass guitar, cello, drums). I was wondering if the HRH would be a thrill for them? It's an extra $64 a night over the cost of the RPR. Is it worth it?

That's not a bad rate. It only looks inflated because of the extra adult. The only better rate available for one night would be the AP discount Damo mentioned in the other thread. But when you factor in the cost of a new Preferred Annual Pass, and the fact that this would be your only Universal visit for a year, I'd say you got the best rate for you.:thumbsup2

Of course, after finalizing your room booking, if a cheaper rate does become available, you can always call Universal and have the new rate applied to your reservation.

Edit: About your question about the Hard Rock Hotel; I'd keep my reservation at RPR and, if time permitted, visit HRH in the evening.

I think thats pretty good. Thats about what I have payed the last cpl times I have visited as an AP holder during offseason times. The FOTL I think will be definately worth the extra expense since you have little time.

I do not think the hard rock is worth the extra money. I believe there would be no problem with them checking out the pool area and walkin around hard rock even when staying at RPR if they would like. But I dont think the rooms are particularly "rock" like.

I have mostly stayed at hard rock personally. I do love the decor at RPR though possibly more then hard rock its a great place to stay.

thanks for the feedback.

I noticed that the RPR rooms are 335 sq. ft. and the HRH are 375 sq. ft. Do you notice that difference in the rooms? Especially if we add a rollaway?

We always stay at RPR and have 4-5 people in the room with no problem. Yes it's a little tight, but you are hardly ever in the room. You are getting the room for one night I'm sure you can manage it. As for HRH it's not worth it for one night. If you had more days that you would be enjoying the hotel alittle more than go for it. We are staying at RPR in 2 1/2 weeks for 8 days with 4 people in the room and will have no problems.
