have a question about free dining

I am trying to plan for next fall 2014 and debating between Sept/Oct. Am leaning towards first week in October.

My question is this....if we book for October and the free dining doesn't come out until we are there....what happens then?? do I get it for our whole stay if it starts halfway through our trip??

We need to book flights this fall with our points so I won't be able to change dates once we set them....am worried that nothing has come out yet for this fall yet for October?!?!

You have to arrive on a date that the offer is good for. If it starts halfway through, you can't use it for your entire stay. You would have to book a separate reservation for the dates it is good.

That's a tough call for the airfare. You will probably not find out if free dining will be offered until late next summer.

If FD is offered, it would be out a few months prior to your trip. According to mousesavers, FD for select dates in 2012 (9/30-12/13) came out 7/12/12 and had to be booked by 9/29/12. That is early enough to modify your reservation if your dates are included, but it doesn't help with flights if you need to book those this fall.

In order to get FD, your check in date must be within the FD dates. If you check in on the last day FD is offered, you would get FD for the whole trip; however, if FD starts after you check in, you will not get it for any part of your trip. Some people book room only for the first night or two prior to FD and then book FD for the remainder of their stay.

What airline will have flights released that early? We go every October and usually book in the current year. Would love to book sooner.

I know how you feel....it's a tough choice deciding when there are so many great choices. A split stay is a great idea if you really can't decide between them. With that said, if you do end up doing a split, I'd end with the Poly just because you know you love it there .

If you must book flights now for next Fall and if those flights are non-changeable and if you really are hoping to get Free Dining, I would suggest booking for end of September instead of October. Disney free dining dates in October seem to be getting more sparse. This year, you would have to arrive by Oct 2 to get FD during the first half of October, whereas all of September is basically covered by FD. It's not possible to predict now what dates will have FD next year. It will depend on the dates of large conventions, Fall breaks, etc. But, Disney usually has a harder time filling rooms in September, so that will be your best bet.
