I have 5 extra points I can't bank because I carried them over from last year, is there anything I can do with them? Can I give them to another DVC member to use. Would hate for them to go to waste.

Thanks
Ron

Since you can't bank them (you said they were already banked once),you can't transfer them either. 5 points aren't enough to deposit into RCI (or to reserve anything in the Disney or Concierge Collections) & brokers require a minimum that is much more than 5, so you'd have to rent on your own (by adding more points to the 5 extra).

So unless you are willing to add enough points to the 5 extra to reserve a night somewhere (which you could rent or give away), you'll just have to let them expire.

I know it's hard to wave good-bye to those points, but sometimes, that's just the best option.

Have you rented points before? With a little effort on your part, you can add a few points to the five that are expiring and rent them out on the rent/trade board.

Possible, but IMO, probably not worth it. To do that:

Poster would need to either meet the posting requirements or pay a fee.
Hope someone wants a single night (or a few nights if the OP is willing to rent a few of next year's points) and that the wanted night(s) are still available. Availability for the rest of this year is very limited.
Hope that someone responds before the points expire (at end of the OP's use year).

Could be a lot of effort for little or no gain. Renters generally expect quite a discount for last minute reservations.

I'm in a similar boat as the OP. Two points are going to expire because I don't want to borrow into my 2015 UY and take a trip just to use them. Since they were banked points, I couldn't bank them into 2016, so they will go wherever expired DVC points go. My fault for not planning better.

When we have dangling points we often will add a night to a current reservation using those points and purchase enough one time use points to reserve a single night. I too cannot stand to lose even 2 points.

That's a really good idea. More expensive than just losing the two, but maybe...

I think I a going to be in the same boat! I had borrowed points for a vacation that ended up being cancelled. I was able to rent most of the points except 22, which is great, but now I have to hope I luck into someone that needs only that many, otherwise I might just stay a night at Vero when I am cruising out of FLL in November and then flush the other 2 down the toilet lol.
