and then saw what you would have paid at WDW???Last trip we bough rain ponchos at walmart for like .88 cents a piece. I think they mickey ones were alomost 10$$. The you know those spray bottle fans at WDW that cost like 16$ with the strap, we paid like 4$$ in Target( I think Target) I know they had Mickey logos on the WDW ones but thats a lot of money. Man can you save a lot. We bought bubbles for the kids, mini flash lights, portable fans, etc for way less and just lugged them

Yeah, theme parks must make a killing on merchandise and food.

I have two boys who always want something when we go to places, so last year when we went to disney I made goodie bags for each day for my boys I went to party city and bought things with mickey and pooh, I also went to the disney store and toys are us and bought toys disney related; I will put a different toy everyday with stickers, coloring books, crayons, disney fruit snacks and I included 5. 00 in each bag. My kids love getting their goodie bag everymorning with a different surprise and I got to save money too, I was surprise when we went to MK and the same toy that I have paid 5.00 for was selling in the park for 15.00!!!!!:jester:

I don't have small children, but I am going to WDW with two 16 year old girls. I started collected things for a souvenier bag a while ago. I bought princess beach towels at the Disney store at the end of last year when they were on sale. On Ebay, I bought Mickey earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. At the dollar store I found Mickey hair scrunchies. At Target I bought the Disney Princess disposable cameras and Disney Princess gift bags. I know I have some other stuff too, but I can't remember what since I started buying so long ago. When we check in, I know the girls will head to the pool, then I will leave the bags on their beds. Not only did I have fun doing this, but it saved me money. Now if I can only hold out a couple more weeks!

Yeah, any cologne or perfume. We bought Geir at fragrance.com for 60% less than what Disney was selling it for, same thing for a cologne over in England. So now we go see what we like at the shops around the world and come home and buy it online.

I pack lots of new t's and little surprises for my DDs before we go. They don't get to see what's in their suitcases till we get there. A few clothing items are chosen and previewed by them. We do take a few used items, but for the most part, they have all new clothes, etc. (Which is hard to do, since their birthday's are in the summer and we are going to WDW in the fall- I would've liked to give them the stuff to get use out of it this summer....I also thought of giving them an almost empty suitcase and letting them pick all new stuff out at the outlets near WDW, but then I realized that could get costly as well. So far, DD11 has tshirts from DS and ebay, and a few hooded coverups from DS.com. She also has a Stitch light spinner from DS, and a mad libs book for the plane. I need to find some other cool stuff to buy for her, though. Any suggestions?

i paid $22 for a travel mug with mickey on it. a few months go by and dh needs a new mug so i go to target. they have the EXACT mug (minus logo) for $10.

this winter i picked up some of the mister fans for $3 at walmart :)

I try to do this for some of the must use/non-souvenirs items and "disposable" items like coloring books, glow necklaces and such. But there are some things you are buying because they say Walt Disney World. You want them to remember your vacation by & to brag about that fact that you were lucky enough to go to the happiest place on earth. If I see a co-worker (or honestly, a total stranger in a close situation like on an elevator, at a school function or in line somewhere) with a WDW hand bag or jacket, I'll ask them about their trip. You can buy Disney stuff a lot of places but Disney World stuff is a whole different story.

The rain poncos were expensive, but they are sturdy and they will replace them in the parks for free (or so I've heard.) I hated paying for them, but we have used them the last 3 years and again it's fun wearing them to a local function when it's raining.

I am extremely cheap (with myself mostly) and rarely pay more than $20 for any article of clothing for myself (for my DH, DS, and DD it's another story!!).... anyhow, DH talked me into buying myself an denim shirt with a WDW logo/mickey head embroidered on it that I saw at DTD in January.... I really hesitated because it cost about $44. But I "splurged" and I'm so glad I did. I put my Epcot "spinning" flag pin on it and love to wear it! It was really the only souvenir for me from the trip and I don't regret the purchase at all!.....................P
