Haunted Mansion

Hello,

My family and I are heading out to DL from Florida to run the DL Half and get our "Coast to Coast" medal. We will be there from Sept 2 to Sept 9.

Now the question, am I going to miss out on DL's Haunted Mansion or will it be reopened before I leave California?

You'll need a miracle, because it's scheduled as closed for that time period. I'm praying for that same miracle, too. I arrive on the 9th.

You will both be out of luck unless you manage to be at DLR on 9/15 or 9/16!

Haunted Mansion will definitely not be open by September 9th - that's way too early.

Halloween Time begins on 9/16, and HM is scheduled to be down through 9/15 to receive its Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. Best case scenario is that Haunted Mansion Holiday has a soft opening a day or two before 9/16, but definitely not by 9/9.

Now that I've decided to accept the faintest glimmer of hope on this, I'm wondering about the overlay music. I assume the usual music is out and....what is it replace with? Familiar music from Nightmare Before...?

You never know! Stranger things have happened. If, for some reason, DLR has finished ahead of schedule for HMH and done the run-throughs to make sure it's working properly, they could surprise you and open it a few days early. It's the 10th anniversary of Haunted Mansion Holiday this year, so maybe they will make an extra push to get it open a few days ahead of time.

Haunted Mansion is pretty much completely transformed for the overlay, including the music. It's actually quite a thorough, detailed overlay, which is partly why so many people hate it (because there are almost no traces of the original HM's highlights visible during the ride - every 'sight gag' has pretty much been Skellington-ized!). There's a fresh gingerbread centerpiece on the table in the ballroom scene - it changes every year but it's usually a graveyard or evil gingerbread men or something similar.
