I've been scared of the haunted mansion my whole life, but i decided to finally go on this trip. What things should i look for in the ride? (hidden mickeys, funny things, etc.)

In the scene where you overlook the dining room with the dancing, one place setting is shaped as a Mickey Mouse with a dinner plate and two bread plates.

Ive been on the ride a hundred times and evertime I go on it I see something new..its one of my favorites becuase its really really really immersive...anywhere you look there is something really cool to see..enjoy yourself...let the first go around just be a breaking in period to view all the sights and sounds. Even if you wanted to find certain things, for your fist time going around there is so much to look at your probably going to miss them all :)

lol

HAVE FUN, and Beware the hitch hiking ghosts! lol

I hope you like it. I have always went on this ride but on July 15th I had a bad experience with this attraction and have chosen to skip it on our next trip. I will no longer ride the Haunted Mansion!

Do you like antiques at all? One of the reasons I love HM is that its a Victorian Style Mansion and the lamps, furniture, wallpaper and everything fits that era..I always check that stuff out. Its not scary really its not, its like goofy really. Remember Elvira? She wasnt scary just goofy..lol Honestly I cant do the Haunted houses at our local fair each yr but I LOVE HM in WDW!

Oh my. What happened??

Look for the gate in the graveyard scene, it still has the price tag on it from when it was purchased in California for the ride.

Read the tombstones outside of the mansion -- they are kinda funny! Also, take note of the CMs working there -- they do a pretty good job to act creepy like undertakers from old movies would!

If you have 2 people in your doom buggy, slide to the edges and leave some space between you as you finish riding through the graveyard. Have your camera ready for a picture before you exit the ride!

In the ballroom scene checkout the dancing ghosts. You wil notice by the position of their hands that the women are leading the men. This is because the animatronics benesth you are being mirrored out into the room. When they did this they didn't think about the fact that a mirrorred image will be reversed.

The names on the gravestones outside of HM are all people who contributed to putting together the concept and creating the attraction.

Check out the dancing ghosts and the hall with the dancing candles! At the end be sure to wave goodbye!

PS) I am scared of Dinosaur! I ride with my head under my husbands arms and eyes closed the whole way!

You'll LOVE HM!!! My favorite ride!!! Be sure to look for the ring in the cement at the gate just as you leave ... others may describe where it is better than I have.

Also, more noticable is the PET CEMETARY on the left as you exit the grounds but before the actual gate out. It has dogs and cats and ducks and snake tombs ... and MR TOAD!!!

Seriously, it is such a wonderfully themed ride with so many things to see ... I can't wait until I get on it again!

Just be sure the flash is OFF! Two reasons: no flash photography is allowed on any dark rides (and most others), and the flash will ruin the effect of the ghost - you'll illuminate the glass and the resulting image will show the mechanism on the other side instead of the pic of the ghost in the vehicle with you.

Just look for the big things your first time thru. Be amazed at the dancing ghosts in the dining room, Madame Leota, and the hitchhiking ghosts at the end. What an amazing ride!

Plan to ride more than once. Everytime you will see something you didn't see in the previous rides. I love this ride!

One thing I'd never noticed at first...in the stretching room, when the Ghost Host says "Of course, there's always MY way" and the lights go out, look up.

And check out the names on the crypts as you exit...they're kind of amusing. I particularly like Wee G. Bord and Hal Lucinashun :p

its fun, just make sure to go on with someone! in every room, there is a black crow with red eyes crowing. look for him :bounce:

When we took our kids in 2002, my youngest 2 were 4 and 2. I was worried about how scary it would be for them, so I asked a CM how scary it was. These were his words. He said, "It's like Scooby Doo-scary." So we went on and his words described it very well. It was a funny type of scary. We really enjoyed this ride as did all of our kids.
