Haunted Mansion theme rooms?

Lol...funny thing is the fact that April Fools was the furthest thing from my mind!

Actually if you had read the whole thing it describes Disney's idea for Pirate, Royal and Haunted rooms and also shows Disney concept art for both the Royal and Haunted rooms. Seriously, the rudeness around here from "veterans" is getting really old.

This seems to me like an awesome idea. And since it took a couple of years to get the Royal rooms done after the Pirate rooms, maybe the Haunted rooms are coming to POFQ in the future?

I don't consider someone that joined in 2011 a veteran. But I agree geesh people. And no OP in't dreaming there was a survey done by Disney on these rooms. There was also talk on these board's about them. But when the RR were announced all the talked just stoped.

I totally agree. Everyday I come on here and the Disboard 'class system' is in full force. I read these posts and I'm like "really? and you take that attitude to Disney?" Some days, this place really puts a dampner on the magic.

I don't believe anyone was trying to be rude. When a thread was started on April 1 and talk about Haunted and don't refer to a post someplace, what would you think? Honest mistake at best.

Thank you. Yes, it was an honest mistake that I made after a long day of April Fools jokes on most of the boards yesterday. And since the OP didn't mention anything about the origin of her question, I though it was just another joke.

I believe that the Haunted rooms are in the pipeline to be done at POR while the Royal rooms were for the POR/Riverside Resort. That was just before the Art of Animation Resort came along. Probably once they have completed the AAR it will be next to come out. Disney can't afford to sit back anymore after listening to two years of Harry Potter and how wonderful it is lol. :thumbsup2

They actually did do a mockup of Haunted Mansion themed rooms.

But I believe the idea was not brought to fruition. Apparently they didn't get the kind of reception the princess and pirate room themes got. Disney was also set to put something in the Contemporary Resort called "health suites" that had exercise machines, but they finally decided not to do that either.

In the survey I think I had to pick my one favorite, or maybe rate the themed rooms, and I voted for the Pirate theme. Now that I see the pirate rooms, I wish I had voted for HM!

We would love a Haunted Mansion room too. Or a Nightmare Before Xmas room. My little boy (5) absolutely loves everything spooky... which really concerns me when he is a teenager, but that's another story.

In the meantime, we would be really excited to try a Haunted Mansion room! :)

Haha... don't worry. My kids are teens now, they've always loved ghost stories and stuff, but they're mostly normal now. They do watch a lot of zombie movies and are addicted to Haunted History, but they're not killing small animals... yet.

I showed the concept art to my 14 year old, she loved it. I'm sure if my 16 year old were home she'd love it too. Haunted Mansion is one of our favorite rides. I really hope they are planning to do it, and like I said, it took them 2 years from the time they did the Pirate rooms to get the Royal rooms done. So maybe by 2014 POFQ will have a few haunted rooms. Where else might they go? Any ideas?

I could see them going into the POFQ; they would be great there! And I for one, love the idea. The HM is one of my absolute favorites and it has such a strong following that I'm sure the rooms would do well, even if they made a fewer number than the other two room themes. It could be frightening to little ones, but I think a smaller number of them would do gangbusters business. The sliding 'library' door for the bathroom is awesome and that's what Disney is best at...Creativity.

It's no joke, there were concept ideas for the HM rooms, I was also a recipient of the survey about them about a year or so ago. It was discussed at length here on the DIS for awhile. For whatever reason the HM themed rooms never came to be, but they did go ahead with the Pirate Rooms at CBR & Royal Rooms at POR (that were also discussed in the survey from Disney and here on the DIS) Why would you assume someone made this up? Do your research & get your facts straight before you go ASSuming the OP was being facetious. It was a valid question.

I heard about these rooms a few years ago before I even came on this site. As you said the HM rooms never came to be. Let's hope that maybe they're still being considered, but they went with the other two themes first due to the overwhelming popularity of pirates and princesses. Who knows, maybe we'll still get some HM rooms at some point. :thumbsup2

I got a survey a while back with the Haunted Mansion room idea and I loved it! (It was so long ago that I had forgot about it until this thread) I wish they would do it, that would probably be the only thing to make me try a resort other than Pop! :)

Our family would love to stay in a room with a Haunted Mansion theme! That said, I suspect that the pirate and royal rooms appeal to many more people than the HM would.

I did not realise that they had not done the Health Suites I though they had done them along with the other refurbs.

I loved the concept art of the HM rooms but thought that they would be a bit creepy and dark to stay in. I saw the links on here about the survey people had been asked to do.

I also got that survey. My boys would LOVE a HM themed room. We all adore that ride! So classic Disney. I think the rooms would be very fun and actually appeal to many who love the ride and also just love classic Disney.

That room is so cool! I know my boys would LOVE staying there! Hopefully they change their minds and decide to go ahead with them bc we would be first in line to stay there :goodvibes.

The HM rooms were thought about when they were planning the Royal Guest Rooms at POR. They had sample pictures with the Doom Buggies as the headboards. Would have been cool. I think the OP is referring to a legit article/discussion/idea and it was brought up here on DISboards. ;)

I guess I finally got my answer...Nobody knows! :lmao:

I sincerely hope that they decide to do these rooms as I would also be jumping up and down to book one!

I remember reading about the rooms a couple of years back; however, I was not lucky enough to get one of the surveys at that time. I'm sure with all of the new referbs that they have done at POR and POFQ they probably won't do them there, but I would not count that out. Since I remember, vaguely, it being stated that the HM rooms might be at POFQ? Where would YOU put them other than Port Orleans.

Thanks for the great discussion on the topic! I hope this makes them realize that there is a need...a need for a HM room! :woohoo:
