Haunted Mansion Movie Question

I have just recently seen the Pirates of the Caribbean (I know, where the heck have I been) but I saw it mostly because I want to see the hype and what the ride update was about . I wound up loving the movie and can't wait to ride the new ride in 44 days

My question is, how does the haunted mansion compare? Is it like the ride? I was going to rent it but my b/f talked me out of it and I want to know what my fellow lovers of disney think.

I loved it in fact after seeing it I bought it for my collection. To me it explains the story behind the ride and actually helps make the HM more interesting and fun.

Love the movie and the ride!!! I think you need to "overrule" your b/f on this one!!!

The ride takes you on a tour of the Haunted Mansion - the movie explains the history of how the haunted mansion came to be! Gotta love Eddie Murphy!

I think I might just have to put it in the DVD on my desk and watch it while I work today!!!!

I am a hardcore HM fan and I thought the movie was great but the quote that best describes it is "Infinitely better than the Country Bears but no where near Pirates of The Caribbean"

Haunted Mansion is a fun movie, but Pirates is much better. You should at least see it once and then you can make up your opinion about it.

Like others have said it helps explain the story behind the ride. Watch it carefully then when you are on the ride look for things that were depicted in the movie. You will find alot of them.

i didn't really care for The Haunted Mansion movie much. it was ok, but nothing really that great. NOTHING like Pirates!

If you want to see movies that tell stories about the rides, don't forget about Tower of Terror with Steve Guttenberg in it. Can't say it is the best movie, but my kids love it.
