Me an dh are going to Vegas in 3 weeks and have decided to take a day trip to Disneyland. I was wondering when the haunted mansion gets done up like nightmare before Christmas? Also is there any spiders in it as I'm a huge arachnaphobe? And is the special space mountain only during the party? Thanks

HM Holiday opens on Sept 17, as does Space Mtn Ghost Galaxy

Is ghost galaxy during regular park hours or just the halloween party?

Ghost Galaxy is all season long. It is not a party exclusive. The only 'big' thing that is exclusive to the party (MHP) is the Halloween Screams fireworks. Otherwise, the Halloween Round-Up, Haunted Mansion Holiday and Ghost Galaxy will be up and running from 9/17 - 10/31.

Come join us on the extremely popular Halloween at DL super thread. We discuss anything and everything pertaining to the Halloween season in that thread. If you have time to scroll through and look at the photos, you will find there are many pictures taken of Haunted Mansion Holiday - inside the ride and outside. Here is the link:

Like HM Holiday, SMGG is a makeover for all guests not just the special parties. They remove SMGG right after Halloween, but of course keep HMH until after the New Year.

Oh, I forgot to mention in my previous post - if you want to avoid spiders, definitely do not go in and watch "It's Tough to Be a Bug" in California Adventure!! That is not a show for you.

I am trying to think about any spiders that might be in Haunted Mansion Holiday. The thing with HMH is that it is is much brighter and more colorful than the regular Haunted Mansion. It's got a crazy mixture of Halloween and Christmas decorations. It's a really thorough overlay - the whole ride is basically transformed from beginning to end, outside to inside. The 'creepy' factor is not as big as it is in the regular version of Haunted Mansion, so I don't think spiders are very obvious if they are there. I don't think I noticed any.

There is a big 'web' on the outside of the Haunted Mansion Holiday ride, but I don't think it has a spider in it. I'm trying to remember.

Awesome thanks. Yeah I'm going on my 4th trip to Disney World in Novemeber and know all about Tough to be a bug lol. This is our first time to Disney Land though. I have always wanted to see the Nightmare before Christmas overlay so I am super excited! I am fine with webs just can't handle the spiders. If they aren't obvious or anything I am fine if I see them I would just look away. I just wanted to be prepared for anything I should make sure to not look at.

My 7 year old granddaughter hates spiders too, and she's just fine with Haunted Mansion Holiday (and regular one, too). She's got an eagle eye - she sees spiders in the darndest places that I've never seen them. So if they were there, I'm confident she'd notice. And she's never said anything.

Awesome! Thanks :)

I really don't think so. Sounds like we share the same fear; I saw "tough to be a bug" and when The Scene happened I actually had to lean over in my seat to get "away" from them (big plastic fake looking ones sproing down from the ceiling and dangle there WAY above your head and do not come near you nor do they fall, but it was enough!) and had to cover my eyes...

But apart from the bowtie on the mayor in Nightmare Before Christmas (DS says you can see it in HMH), I cannot think of any 8-legged creatures (and DS tells me that they "drew it wrong" and only put 6 legs anyway) on that ride.

About the Indy ride (from your other thread), the bugs projected on the wall seem to be insects, as in 6-legged creatures, which don't cause the same issues in me.
