Haunted Mansion for kids?

My DS's were 4 and 2 last trip and LOVED it.

We did explain to DS4 what was coming--that Mickey was tricking us--there weren't real ghosts, etc.

I had forgotten about the things that POP out at you at the beginning; I was worried about DS2, but he was laughing and saying, "PEEK A BOO!!!!"

I agree that you need to try Snow White or Pirates first--the dark parts may be scarier than the special effects to some kids.

2Disneybuggs: I just wanted to warn you about something. You said you would be riding during MNSSHP. The cast members really get into HM on that night. A few years ago when we went to MNSSHP we decided to go on HM and it was just me and DH. Of course, we both love HM and thought we knew what to expect. During the part of the ride with the hallway with all the banging doorknockers, it seems that one of the castmembers, dressed in his HM butlers outfit decided to hide in there and just as my car turned around he quickly stuck his face right in front of me with one of those stern HM scary looks. I almost jumped out of my skin and screamed!!! After we passed him we could hear others screaming too and realized he must have been doing the same thing to everyone who went by. We laughed about it afterwards, in fact it kind of made our night. But I didn't want to see that happen to you and DD 2 riding alone without warning you about it.

OMG, you just reminded me of DSs first HM ride! We had just gotten off of the Pirates when we saw that the HM line was short, so we decided to go on it. DH shared a doom buggy with DS, and I was in the one behind them. I heard DH bust out laughing and when the ride was over, he was still laughing. I asked why, and he said that a CM jumped out at them, and DS whipped out his pirate sword and just started beating on the CM with all his (then) 3 year old might! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
