Haunted Mansion for Kids

My kids are 10, 7, 6, and 4. Would they be too young for Haunted Mansion? I rode it when I was 9 and it scared the daylights out of me (although I was the type of child who was afraid of absolutely everything, so I don't feel comparing my experience to my kids is a fair comparison). My kids love the movie Haunted Mansion and they're all determined to ride this ride. Any thoughts?

If your kiddos aren't scared of anything, go for it.

We took DS (he can be alittle skittish at times) when he was 5ish, and for him the worst part was the stretching room. After that it was all good. He sat with his Dad on the ride and enjoyed it. Dad had to hold him in the stretching room so he did not get trampled in the room, cause you are packed so tight in there. I would hold the 4yr old.

My son startd going on it at 6 and it is still one of his favs, he's almost 14. We are going in 2 weeks and my daughter who is 4.5 will prob not go on ( even though she will try and convince us otherwide) If your kiddos have seen the movie then I think they will like it and that takes away a bitof the "scare" factor. The only part I really think my daughter will be scared of is when the lights go off while you wait, so I dont want to ruin the fun of the ride later for her. Also, howdy from St Louis

I YouTube anything I thought my daughter May chicken out on, she's 3 and I swear because she knew what to expect on ToT she did great and went over and over!

Mom says I was fine when I rode it at 5. The only thing that really scared me was when the witch with the apple pops out in the old Snow White ride; I'm 34 now, and remember that it scared the living snot out of me when I was 3. Even when I was 7 or 8, and knew it was there, I still wasn't very happy with it, but I liked Dopey enough to ride it a few times.

DS was not quite 3 when we went in November and he loved it. There were a couple parts where he held onto my arm but he never freaked out or anything. He's never been afraid of anything like that though- I think it would depend if your child is typically scared of Halloween type things.

We were just there a couple weeks ago with my 2 1/2 year old dd... the first time she seemed afraid saying "I don't want it" and "outside"... the following 3 times throughout the trip she had a blast and was laughing and making ghost sounds.

Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 6th grade the first time. They went on it twice. The 2nd time we went, we made sure to get FP+ for it, and rode it about 4 times. Youngest DS was 7, in 2nd grade. They LOVE it.

Mine have ridden it since they were 4 and 2. The scariest part for them was in the stretching room when the lights go out. I told them about it, and reminded them after the first trip, and they were ok. Youngest is now 10 and makes sure he has a hold of my hand when we go in there. When they were younger, we made a little game out of laughing at the silly ghosts.

DS2 went last year (4 yrs old) and loved it. He convinced DS1 to go this year (both now 5). DS2 still loves it but I had to take DS1 out the chicken exit after the first section!!
If they've seen the movie I'm sure they'll be just fine

My 7 and 9 years olds were fine with it, my 9 year old actually thought it was a little 'boring' LOL and my 7 year old was terrified of ToT and not phased much by Haunted Mansion.

Rode it fine with my daughter at age 1, 2, 3, 4... but had to use the chicken exit when she was 5. She didn't want to go anywhere near the graveyard scene with the skeletons that pop up. All kids are different, and they change their minds...

My girls were 2.5 and almost 4 the first time they rode it. Each of us takes a kid and they hold on tight but they love it!

Last time my kids at 4 and 7 hated it. They did fine on the stretching room but didn't like the ghosts on the ride. They both had rode it when they were younger just fine. We will see how they do this June at 6 and 9.

DD was always scared of the dark and she went on when she was 5. She loves the ride and goes on several times each trip. The only thing she does not like is the end of the stretching room when the lights go out and the thunder noise. She usually tucks her head under my arm for that part and then everything is good.

You may just want to explain the lights going out and thunder so they are prepared for it. Or you could show them on You Tube. Just a thought. The rest is pretty fun.

My kids might hang a little closer to me during the stretching room, but they have never been truly scared of it or the ride. It's a pretty tame "haunted" mansion. I think your kids should be fine (FWIW, my kids have been going on it since they were just shy of 2..)

My 6 year olds were scared. Nothing brutal that led to nightmares or anything like that. (I remember my brother had nightmares from the HM at the same age). But they didn't like it and certainly wouldn't ride it a second time. My boys aren't super sensitive, but they're also fairly sheltered in general, for reference.

My so has been on it at 10 months, 2, 4 and 5 with no problems. I think kids take their cues from you. If you act like it is going to be fun and not scary, they will buy it.

Although last trip, they only let maybe 15-20 people in the stretching room instead of usual packed in like sardines and even I was scared of that. It's much spookier when people aren't bumping in to you, lol.

Took my DD when she was an infant and when she was 4 on the ride. Now granted, when she was 4, it was at Disneyland and Nightmare Before Christmas themed. All times she did ok. That said, I tried to ride the ride with a 2nd cousin when she was 5 and we couldn't get her beyond the loading area.

I would take the kids through the queue and judge for yourself based on their reactions if you think they will be ok. Chances are, they will
