Not sure if its a one time thing, but FP is available today 5/10 for the HM.

We were there in early December last year and they had FP turned on. It was an awesome addition!

Local popularity will be high this weekend to see the return of the hatbox ghost. However, once most locals have seen it, the attraction should go back to its normal interest.

Expect the same for Soarin next week and the Matterhorn a week after that.

I think they are expecting crowds because of the return of the Hatbox Ghost. This is an iconic character that Haunted Mansion fans have been waiting for. I think Disney is smart to turn the FastPass machines on. They can always turn them off if the demand is not what they thought it would be.

It was on when we were there in April too, at least on our first day which was a Sunday.

Maybe it'll stay for the summer? Sure would be nice!!

Not every attraction needs FP. Even a very popular one. The HM's ride system can handle a lot of guests per hour and FP only slows the standby line. I am not against FP at all, but I'm not sure the HM needs this even in the short term.

I am not surprised at this since the hatbox ghost just returned (side note- there are too many spoiler photos posted on FB! I don't want to see it til I get there!!)

Do they turn the FP on for the holiday overlay? or does it depend on when over the holidays you're there?

It was the one ride we never rode early December 2013 due to long lines all week. I'd love a FP to avoid a 30 minute wait!

If no FP is offered we do plan to get to that ride early in the day :)

I can remember one time we were there that we wished HM would have had a FP. I'm pretty sure it was "Bat Day", and the line for HM was all the way back a the NOS train station! It was a multi hour long wait(can't remember if it was 2 or 3). It was crazy long!. DH and I looked at each other and walked the other way...we love HM, but weren't going to wait that long! We'd never heard of Bat Day before that trip, so we were caught a bit off guard. I'm sure that we happened to go by at the "group meeting" time for that ride, so it was just bad luck...a couple hours later it was back down to a regular 30 min wait or so.

Oh, of course! I forgot about that!

Lines were big yesterday due to the return of the hat box ghost. Its a good idea that they have the FP back up.

Sometimes, yes, sometimes no. They did use the FP system intermittently last year, but they used it very rarely the year before.

Given that the Hatbox Ghost just re-appeared, it's the Tinkerbell Marathon, and Mother's Day weekend, I'm not too surprised that they opted to use the FP system this week. I wouldn't be too surprised to hear that they weren't using it during the weekdays or after the initial interest has faded. It will be interesting to see if they opt to use the HM FP system on the 24-hour day (last year, they did not).

Well now I know why it struck me as odd to see FP at HM during Xmas week! As a noob to the forum, I find the info very interesting!
