Haunted Mansion Construction Pics

When we went in March and again last month the line was snaked down some ramp and then up another ramp by the water. It was weird. The wait during the afternoon on Christmas eve was 45 min and the line did that weird snakey thing and still went down the road like the pic above.

I wonder why they are bother with that, for a ride that has a wait less than 20 minutes most of the year I don't see that being a good investment of funds.

Yer just pissed they won't fix the nYeti. ;) :p We even hit a 20+ minute wait the first full week of December. :confused3

Wow, we never saw lines like that this past August. It was never over 15 minutes and usually much less.

The line has been up to an hour these past few weeks. I was there today and the line was a 50 min wait. I was there last monday and it was a 50 min wait also..line snaked back towards the riverboat.

I really don't like that they're making the queue interactive. I think the simplicity of the classic attractions (HM, Pirates, etc.) really sets the tone for the whole ride. It's supposed to feel like you're waiting outside an old, creepy mansion. Why ruin it with games and such? I think it's a great idea for something like Pooh but I think it's out of place at HM. But who knows? Maybe I'll love it once it's finished...but I'm not holding my breath.

An idea...so that kids, who are creeped out by the line but would LOVE the ride, will actually go in the line.

I think that part of learning to appreciate things that are a bit spooky is working up the nerve to actually go into that scary place. It's something all kids do at some point and I'm not sure if cutesy games and the like will help kids be braver. After all, the scary haunted mansion is still there.

Thats good the que for haunted mansion takes forever and there isn't anything there so I am glad they are redoing it. I am also glad its being done without affecting the rides operation

It is kinda boring to stand outside but there is so much detail on the outside of the mansion that there is a lot to look at.

Like the hearse from "The Sons of Katie Elder." Read that in the Haunted mansion book. Also the wreath on the door.

I think that they need to make it a lot more wheelchair friendly. One time I was there and two people on the vehicles totally missed the wheelchair exit and tried to roll on into the entrance stopped by the turnstiles. I told the cast member that they had two people stuck there but I don't know if anything happened. I was pushed inside by the crowd who was trying to get by.

Can't wait to see what they have up their sleeves.;)

From 1974. HM traditionally has long lines in Summer. :)

That is going to be cool, but we often go during the off season so lines are very minimal as in 10 mins or so. Going to be neat that it's going to be interactive, but I doubt I'll ever get to mess with it since they only turn it on during busy times like space mtn's interactive setup wasn't active when we were there in late sept.

I have to agree with this...keep it creepy and maybe make it even creeper.

Eight years before I was born. Wow.

WOW that just made me feel old! :rotfl2:

If they are going to do anything to the queue at HM, why wouldn't it be something to address the horrible bottleneck that occurs after you exit the pre show and go to board the Doom Buggies? The pre show just dumps everyone out to shove their way to the actual ride entrance area and it's possibly the worst line experience in all of WDW. My DW almost refuses to go on HM anymore because of that.

lol. darn right!

We have even been in July right after the 4th and never seen it more than 25 minutes. We must have really good luck or good touring plans. Also when I check the wait time app I have on my phone I've only seen it over 30 minutes during holiday weeks. Weird its usually right.

do we know when this the cue is going to be finished... in may the school I teach at is going down for thier senior class trip... out of the 17 kids going 14 of them are in wheel chairs...

usually when we go down we break up into small groups so we don't overwhelm the CMs but with this many chairs this might make us have to re-work our touring plans... (when I say us I mean since I am the official disney freak at school I am going to have to re-work our plans :lmao: )

thanks!

and PS... this is great I hated having to stand way out by the racks in the middle of summer with people not knowing where the line ends and so they try to cut around you so this is fantastic

There was info about that construction a couple of months ago. They are enlarging and changing the queue, including allowing mainstreaming for disabled guests. Presently disabled guests have to enter through the exit.

If that is true it is about time. Wheelchair users miss out on the special room. At Disneyland they enter and exit through the entrance. And the special room is somewhat boring there using it in reverse.

Nice pics..

I like the upgrade to the Qs... wonder how many other attractions may get some "facelifts"?
