The actual date is 9-9-09. There are several special event packages that were sold. They all sold out within hours (minutes?) of going on sale. You can read about them here. There is anniversary merchandise available if you want to purchase some. Here is a link for you.
This event did sell out within minutes. Also, I do not think the merchandise is available to just anyone. I believe it is available to the lucky ticket holders that have to enter a code to get to the ordering page. P.S. I am a lucky ticket holder.
I'm a lucky ticket holder too (Dearly Departed)...going with Tinkcollector! InLikeSin, if you bought one of the HM special event tickets, you are able to purchase special merchandise only available to ticket holders. Did you get an email from special events? Check out this link and enter your registration code to view the merchandise http://www.disneyurl.com/HM40thRSP.
Hi Capnhook77! There are actually quite a few of us Disney nuts in our neck of the woods!
Did you buy one of the HM special event tickets for 09/09/09? If you did, you should have received and email from special events regarding your ticket and the special merchandise. Key words here are "SHOULD HAVE". For some reason I am not able to receive their messages via email so Tinkcollector has had to forward all their messages to me. I've called them several times about it and we can't figure it out. If you bought a ticket you can call them at 866-247-1203 to ask about the merchandise.
I just got back from Disneyland and spotted three 40th Anniversary items in the Le Bat en Rouge shop. Not very nice, but did promote the 40th. I didn't search hard but I was not able to find a picture on eBay or google - I saw: a keychain, magnet, and t-shirt all depicting the same image: Mickey & Goofy as ghosts, Donald as the grounds keeper, Mansion in the background.
I really don't like when Mickey and friends get involved so I passed, but I did buy an HM shirt which I had never seen before - it was the ride poster image but on a black background instead of a green one. Was nice to finally see an HM shirt for sale at Disneyland, I had been making my own HM shirts.
