just wanted to give a mini report and a big
on a haunted carriage ride we did with disney during our october 09 halloween trip
Haunted Halloween Carriage Rides at
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
just a quick report on this, we thought this was totally fab and definitely one of the highlights of our holiday
the lady who we checked in with told us it was sold out and after the experience i'm not suprised, we found fort wilderness no problems and our guide was really nice, he introduced us to our lovely huge white horse who was called Lance, the children asked many questions about the horse like children do and the guide was very pleasant and answered with lots of good humour and patience, the carriages are for 4 people and it costs $60 and we were told no tipping was necessary
the story of sleepy hollow is told on a tape and there is music too and the story of the legend unfolds as you take a gentle 30 minute ride through the dark woods, the setting couldn't be more perfect, the woods have been themed as only disney could do and at times you think the headless horseman really is coming, there was parts in the story when we sat trembling with the children looking off wide eyed into the woods but i would say that on the whole it's a spooky rather than a scared out of your seat sort of experience
at the very end you do get a fright as the horseman does make a appearance and he was unexpected as there were times when we thought here would be the perfect time to see him in the story, my husband jumped but the way the children were sat in the carriage they saw him coming so at least they had some warning he was on a huge black horse and we did manage to snap a few pics after the initial shock
i would highly recommend this for anyone visiting next october as it is only done at that time of year (we were told it sells out every year) our children ages 13 and 16 loved it and we did too
here are a few pictures and the white spots are insects (i would recommend using some repellant)
and details below on how to book
